NOTICE is hereby given that ROBERT TRETHEWAY,
of Sage's Lane, off Tory Street, in the City of
Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand, has
applied to register, under "The Trade Marks Act,
1866," the trade mark of which the following is a
description:--

Description of Trade Mark.
The words "R. Tretheway's Ointment."

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such
Trade Mark shall apply.
A medicated ointment.

NOTICE is hereby given that FREDERICK CLARENCE
DEAN, of Thames, in the Colony of New Zea-
land, has applied, on behalf of the THAMES PAINT
MANUFACTURING COMPANY, to register, under "The
Trade Marks Act, 1866," the trade mark of which
the following is a description:--

Description of Trade Mark.
A lithographic label printed in colours, containing
a representation of the factory and poppet-heads,
with tree-ferns on each side; also the monogram of
H.B.D. combined; the words "Oxide of Iron Paint,
Thames Paint Manufacturing Company, Thames,
New Zealand," in white letters on a red ground.
The uses to which the paint can be applied, and its
qualities, are described in block-letters on a light-
coloured ribbon, shown on each side of building.

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such
Trade Mark shall apply.
Oxide of iron paint, both in a dry powder and
ground in oil.

NOTICE is hereby given that Messrs. BUCKLEY,
STAFFORD, and FITZHEBERT, of Wellington, in

the Colony of New Zealand, Solicitors, have applied,
on behalf of Messrs. WOOD and COMPANY, of Ash-
burton, in the said colony, Brewers, to register, under
"The Trade Marks Act, 1866," the trade mark of
which the following is a description:-

Description of Trade Mark.
In the centre of a circular paper label is a beer-
barrel of a dark-red colour, between the hoops of
which are printed in black letters of a uniform size
the words "Extra Brown Stout." On a white or
plain ground encircling the said barrel are printed in
black letters the words "Brewed and Bottled by
Wood & Co." The words "Wood & Co." are of
larger size than the others; they are placed under
the said barrel, and are separated on either side from
the other words by a mark such as a comma within a
circle. The whole of the foregoing is enclosed within
a ring or band about half an inch in breadth of a
dark-red colour, the outer edges of which are two
deep black lines; within these lines are two narrow
black lines, and within the latter lines are printed in
black letters of about a quarter of an inch high the
words "Ashburton Brewery, Ashburton." The
word "Ashburton" is separated from the other two
words by two white stars, one before and one after
the word.

Trade Mark shall apply.

Bonuses on Colonial Industries.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Wellington, 18th May, 1881.

NOTICE is hereby given that the following bonuses
will be paid on articles produced in the Colony
of New Zealand, as under :-

SUGAR.
A bonus of one thousand pounds (£1,000) will be
given for the production of the first 125 tons of sugar,
manufactured in New Zealand, from beet or any
other root or plant grown in the colony.

LINSEED OIL.
A bonus of five hundred pounds (£500) will be
given for the production, by machinery permanently
established in New Zealand, of the first ten thousand
(10,000) gallons of oil, of good marketable quality,
from linseed grown in the colony.

OIL CAKE.
A bonus of one hundred pounds (£100) will be
given for the production of the first fifty tons of oil
cake, of good marketable quality, from linseed grown
in the colony.

STARCH.
A bonus of three hundred pounds (£300) will be
given on the first fifty tons of starch, manufactured
in the colony, which shall be shipped to an English
market, and for which a satisfactory certificate shall
be given by dealers or brokers in England that the
starch is of good marketable quality.

SILK.
A bonus of fifty per cent. on the value realized
for the first thousand pounds' (£1,000) worth of
cocoons of the silkworm, or silkworms' eggs, pro-
duced in the colony, to be paid on quantities of not
less value than fifty pounds (£50) nor more than
one hundred pounds (£100) produced by any one
person.
