Tariff of Charges on the New Zealand Railways.
IN accordance with the By-laws for the New Zealand Railways, made by Order in Council dated the
6th day of January, 1881, the scale at foot hereof for the carriage and delivery of goods and parcels
on the New Zealand Railways is hereby fixed to come into force on 1st November, 1881, in lieu of that
at present in force, and in lieu of the regulation affecting agricultural produce which was published in
Gazette No. 50, of 23rd June last, and which was to come into operation on 25th October, 1881.

PART I.—PASSENGERS.
I.—ORDINARY TICKETS.

Mileage for Return Tickets is to be counted one way only.
Return Tickets will be available for return for distances of 25 miles and under on
the day of issue only; for each additional 25 miles or fraction thereof, one day's
extension of time will be allowed for the return journey. When a Sunday intervenes
in the time for which they are available such Sunday will not be reckoned.
No return or periodical ticket will be available for special or for excursion trains,
except when the ordinary time table is suspended.
Ordinary Single Tickets will be available on the day of issue only. Single tickets
issued on Saturdays and Sundays, will be available for the return journey until the
end of the following Monday.
Flag Station Tickets will be issued only to the next Booking Station.
Passengers getting into the Train at a Booking Station without a Ticket will be
charged One Shilling in addition to the ordinary fare.
II.—SEASON TICKETS AND SCHOOL TICKETS.
Application for Season and School Tickets must be made to the Manager of the
line, upon a form to be obtained at any Station.
All School Tickets will be issued and dated as from the first day only of each
quarter.
