NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT A WATER-
RACE.

Hindon, 17th September, 1881.
To the Mining Registrar at Dunedin.

WE hereby give notice that we intend to construct
a Water-race to divert and use water for
mining purposes, commencing at a point three miles
above the junction of the Sutton Stream with the
Taieri River, and terminating at Boniface.

The length of such race is five miles or there-
abouts; and its intended course is east and west.
The mean depth of such race is 2 feet, and the
mean breadth is 2 feet, and it is proposed to divert
seven Government-heads of water. Time estimated
for construction of race, eighteen months.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT A WATER-
RACE.

Orepuki, Longwood District,
Round Hill, 7th September, 1881.
To the Warden at Riverton.

WE hereby give notice that we intend to construct
a Water-race to divert and use tailwater for
mining purposes, commencing at a point 200 yards
east of Marsh's Gully, taking in all tailwater at that
point, also the water in Lake George, and terminating
at the sea beach, Colac Bay.

The length of such race is three and a half miles or
thereabouts, and its intended course is two and a half
miles east and west, thence south-south-east to ter-
mination at sea-beach, running parallel with present
corduroy road from sea-beach to starting point, as
described, one mile. The mean depth and breadth
of such race is 10 feet by 5 feet, and it is proposed
to divert fifteen Government-heads of water.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT A WATER-
RACE AND DAM.

Tuapeka, 6th October, 1881.
To the Warden at Lawrence,

WE hereby give notice that we intend to construct
a Water-race to divert and use water for

mining purposes, commencing at a point of the
Tuapeka Creek below the dwelling-house of Daniel
Keenan, Section 74, Block I., Waitahuna West, and
about one and a half miles from Tuapeka Mouth,
and terminating at our claim at Tuapeka Mouth, on
Section 25, Block I., Waitahuna West.

The length of such race is one mile and a half or
thereabouts, and its intended course east and west.
The mean depth of such race is 2 feet, and the mean
breadth is 2 feet 6 inches, and it is proposed to divert
two Government-heads of water.

We hereby also give notice that we intend to con-
struct a Dam-bank and Reservoir for the storage of
water in Tuapeka Creek, about one and a half miles
from Tuapeka Mouth, and below the dwelling-house
of Daniel Keenan, and that the following are the
particulars respecting such dam and reservoir:β€”

  1. Locality: Opposite Section 74, Block I., Wai-
    tahuna West.
  2. Length of dam: 50 feet.
  3. Greatest height: 5 feet.
  4. Greatest breadth of base: 1 chain.
  5. Area of reservoir: 1 acre.
  6. Time estimated for construction: one month.

AMENDED NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT
A WATER-RACE.

District of Otago Gold Fields,
16th September, 1881.

To the Warden at Lawrence.

I HEREBY give notice that I intend to construct
a Water-race to divert and use water for mining
purposes, commencing at a point in Section 21,
Block I., Tuapeka West, a quarter of a mile north of
Mr. Margetts' house, and terminating at claim of
applicant on Clutha River.

The length of such race is one mile and a half
or thereabouts, and its intended course is north-
westerly. The mean depth of such race is 1 foot,
and the mean breadth is 4 feet, and it is proposed
to divert one Government-head of water.

Any person objecting to the granting of the above
application must lodge his objection in writing at
the Warden's Office at Lawrence within fourteen
