  1. Marks will be allotted to the obligatory sub-jects in the following proportions:—
    Military administration ... ... 1 1/2
    Military law ... ... ... ... 2
    Elements of tactics... ... ... 3
    Fortification ... ... ... ... 3
    Military topography ... ... ... 3
    Drill, gymnastics, and riding (one each) 3

  2. In tactics, fortification, and military topo-
    graphy one-fourth of the marks will be reserved for
    notes and drawings done during the course, and in
    fortification one-twelfth for practical out-of-door
    work. Fifty marks will also be given towards the
    aggregate of each of the under officers as a reward
    for their services.

  3. The standard of qualification for a commission
    will be decided upon from time to time by the Secre-
    tary of State for War, and announced to the cadets
    at the commencement of the course.

  4. No cadet will be permitted to reside for more
    than one year at the College, except in cases of
    failure at the probationary examination, protracted
    illness, or long absence from any unavoidable cause,
    or of his being prevented by unavoidable cause from
    undergoing the final examination. In these cases an
    extra term will, if specially recommended by the
    Governor, be allowed. In the exceptional case of a
    cadet being prevented by sudden illness or other
    unavoidable cause from undergoing the final exami-
    nation, such cadet may, on the recommendation of the
    Governor, be specially examined at the commence-
    ment of the ensuing term. A cadet who fails twice
    at the probationary examination will be removed from
    the College.

  5. A cadet who fails to pass the examination at
    the end of his second term of residence will not be
    permitted to return to the Royal Military College,
    but will be allowed to be re-examined once at the next
    ensuing examination. A failure at this re-examina-
    tion will disqualify a cadet for a commission in the
    army, and his name will be at once removed from the
    list.

  6. A cadet guilty of copying or using unfair
    means at the probationary examination shall be
    rusticated for one term and recommence the course,
    and a cadet guilty of like practice at the final
    examination shall not be allowed to present himself
    for re-examination until that time the following year.

VIII.—General Regulations.

  1. A cadet will be removed from the Royal
    Military College for moral or physical unfitness.

  2. No person whatever belonging to the Royal
    Military College is to receive a present from any
    cadet, or from the relations or friends of any cadet.

  3. The dining-halls, halls of study, reading and
    recreation rooms, and quarters of the cadets will be
    furnished in all essentials by the Government.

Decision by Chief Judge, Native Land Court, upon
an Application for Rehearing of Rangipo Block.

Native Land Court Office,
Auckland, 26th September, 1881.

HAVING considered the application of Topia
Turoa and others, dated the 31st May, 1881,
and the application of Poihipi Tukairangi, dated the
2nd June, 1881, and the application of Arepeta
Haeretuterangi, dated the 3rd June, 1881, for the
rehearing of a block of land called Rangipo, in the
District of Taupo, which was decided by the Native
Land Court at Tapuaeharuru on the 30th day of May,
1881, and having heard counsel thereupon, I hereby,
in pursuance of the authority vested in me by "The
Native Land Court Act, 1880," and "The Native
Land Acts Amendment Act, 1881," make order as
follows:—

I confirm the order of the Court in favour of Te
Heuheu Tukino and others, for the piece of land
called in the order of the Court Rangipo Waiu,
No. 1 parcel of the said block, and coloured blue on
the plan produced before the Court, containing
26,000 acres or thereabouts.

I confirm the order of the Court in favour of
Meiha Keepa te Rangihiwinui and others, and Topia
Turoa and others, for so much of the piece of land
called in the order of the Court Rangipo Waiu,
parcel of the said block as lies to the south of the
junction of the Mangaio and Moaowhango Rivers,
which piece of land is coloured red on the said plan,
and contains 45,000 acres, more or less.

And I order that the title to the residue of the
said piece of land which is comprised in the order of
the Court for Rangipo Waiu, and which is situate to
the north of the junction of the Mangaio River with
the Moaowhango River, and is coloured yellow on the
said plan, and contains 30,000 acres, more or less,
shall be tried again.

And I order that the rehearing of the title to the
said piece of land which is situated between the
Mangaio River on the west, the Moaowhango River
on the east, and the Waipahihi River on the north,
shall take place at Upokongaro, near Wanganui, on
the 1st day of December, 1881; and I make no order
as to costs.
