Notice to Mariners.—No. 29 of 1881.

Marine Department,
Wellington, 6th September, 1881.
NOTICE is hereby given that the barque "Ara-
bella," drawing 15 feet of water, when getting
underweigh in Fitzroy Bay, entrance to Port Nichol-
son, struck on a sunken pinnacle rock which had
7 fathoms of water near to it. The master was not
able to fix its exact position; but he believes it to lay
with Pencarrow Head Lighthouse bearing N.N.W.,
and Baring Head E.S.E., distant one mile. Vessels
passing or rounding Baring Head should be careful
to give it a wide berth.
