Land taken for a Portion of the Foxton to New
Plymouth Railway—Carlyle Branch.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by a Proclamation issued under the
authority of sections one hundred and twenty-
two, one hundred and twenty-three, and one hundred
and twenty-four of "The Public Works Act, 1876,"
the middle line of a portion of the line of railway
from Foxton to New Plymouth (Carlyle Branch),
being one of the railways specified in "The Public
Works Act, 1879," was defined: And whereas pur-
suant to the one hundred and twenty-fifth section of
"The Public Works Act, 1876," the Minister for
Public Works has caused to be made and, on the
twenty-first day of April, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty, to be deposited in the office of the
Registrar of the Supreme Court at New Plymouth,
in the Provincial District of Taranaki, such maps
and plans as were necessary to explain the said
portion of the aforesaid line of railway and the
land through which the same passes, and such maps
and plans were referred to in such Proclamation
as aforesaid: And whereas "The Public Works
Act, 1879," enacts that such of the railways men-
tioned therein as are unfinished may be completed
under the provisions of "The Public Works Act,
1876," "The Public Works Act 1876 Amendment
Act, 1878," and "The Public Works Act, 1879:"
And whereas the land described in the Schedule
hereto is required to be taken for the said portion
of the said line of railway:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
of the powers and authorities conferred by the sixth
section of "The Public Works Act 1876 Amendment
Act, 1878," and of every power and authority in that
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land
described in the Schedule hereto is taken for the
said portion of the said line of railway.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by admea-
surement 5 acres, more or less, situate in Patea
Township Extension, being Sections Nos. 38, 39, 40,
41, 42, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110,
111, 112, 113, 114, and 115 respectively, commencing
at Peg numbered LXXXIII. Bounded-South-
Easterly by Portland Quay, 2107, 122, and 130 links
respectively; generally North-westerly by the Patea
River to commencing point.
All that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 2 roods, more or less, being portion of
Ferry Reserve, situate in Section No. 96, Whenua-
kura Block, commencing at Peg marked LXXIX.
Bounded-Northerly by public road, 200 and 70
links respectively; Easterly, Southerly, and Westerly
by creek and the Patea River to commencing point.
All that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 3 roods 28 perches, more or less, being
portion of Ferry Reserve, situate in Section No. 96,
Whenuakura Block, commencing at Peg marked
LXXVII. Bounded-Easterly by public road, 777
links; Southerly by public road, 140 links; South-
westerly by the Patea River, 250 links; North-
westerly by Ferry Road to commencing point, 500
links.
All that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 2 roods 25 perches, more or less, being
a portion of Ferry Road, commencing at Peg marked
LXXIV. Bounded-North-westerly by Section No.
131, 729 links; North-easterly by public road, 262
links; South-easterly by Ferry Reserve, 500 links;
South-westerly by the Patea River to commencing
point.
All that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 5 acres 3 roods 19 perches, more or less,
being portion of Section No. 131, Whenuakura Dis-
trict, commencing at Peg numbered LXXIV., on the
Patea River. Bounded-South-easterly by Ferry
Road, 500' links; generally Easterly and North-
Easterly by portion of said Section No. 131, 515, 928,
536, and 133 links respectively; North-easterly by
