NOTE.—The population of the Chatham Islands (exclusive of the aborigines, but including 3 Chinese) on the census night
was—males, 162; females, 80: total, 242 persons. Adding these numbers to the total population of the electoral districts, the
population of the Colony of New Zealand (other than Maoris) on the 3rd April is now found to be—males, 269,796; females,
220,355: total, 490,151 persons. But, as stated previously, these numbers are subject to further revision.

NOTICE is hereby given that the several parcels
of land hereinafter described will be brought
under the provisions of "The Land Transfer Act,
1870," unless caveat be lodged forbidding the same
within one month after the date of the Gazette con-
taining this notice.

  1. HENRY KNIGHT.—20 perches, part of
    Rural Section 257, Christchurch District. Occupied
    by Applicant.

  2. JOHN HOLLAND BAKER.—13 acres
    2 roods 20 perches, part of Rural Section 70, Christ-
    church District. Occupied by Applicant.
