situate on the coast-line, and is accessible by coastal
steamer; and the main coach-line of road from
Hawera to New Plymouth forms the main street of
the township, which is distant thirty-eight miles from
New Plymouth.

This land fronts the main road-lines leading from
Manaia to Normanby and Stratford, and is distant
from one and a half to four miles from Manaia. The
land is mostly covered with light bush: it is level,
well watered, and fertile.

Lithograph plans of the townships can be obtained
at any of the Land Offices in the colony, together
with all necessary information.

Terms of sale: One-fourth of the purchase-money
to be paid at the sale, and the balance to the Receiver
of Land Revenue, Patea, within one calendar month
from the date of sale, otherwise the deposit will be
forfeited, and the contract for the sale of the land
thenceforth be null and void. Crown-grant fee to be
paid on completion of purchase.

Gold Fields Notices.

Gold-Mining Lease to be granted.

IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of
and regula-
tions made under that Act for the granting of leases
for gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it
is intended to grant a lease of Crown lands for gold-
mining purposes to the applicant specified in the
annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objec-
tions against such lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating
the grounds of objection, must be made in writing,
and lodged with the Warden at Lawrence on or
before the 18th day of August, 1881.

Copy of the application made and plan annexed
may be seen at the Warden's Office at Lawrence.

SCHEDULE.

APPLICANT: William Goldsmith. Style under which
it is intended to conduct the business: "The Ellen
Gold-Mining Company." 6 acres 27 perches, in the
Tuapeka Mining District (being Section 24, Block
XIX., Tuapeka East).

Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this
eleventh day of July, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-one.

Certificate of Protection granted to the Geelong
Gold-Mining Company.

Mines Department,
Wellington, 28th June, 1881.

IN accordance with section 3 of "The Mines Act
1877 Amendment Act, 1879," this certificate of
protection for twelve months from the 28th June, 1881,
to the 28th June, 1882, is granted in favour of the
Geelong Gold-Mining Company (Limited), for their
gold-mining lease (No. 403c) of 12 acres and 11
perches, Section 10, Block IX., Longwood District:

of land hereinafter described will be brought
under the provisions of "The Land Transfer Act,
1870," unless caveat be lodged forbidding the same
