by railway, and from five to eight miles by road;
six and three-quarter miles of the road intersecting
the block have been cleared of bush 1 chain wide,
two and a quarter miles of which have been formed.
The soil is generally good and suitable for agri-
culture, more or less covered with red and white
pine and other timber; the land is nearly level, with
the exception of Sections 20 and 21, Block III.,
which are broken and soil not so good.

land, lightly timbered; Section 17, similar land and
soil with heavy bush; Sections 19, 21, and 24, light
bush, nearly flat.

Napier, is intersected by the railway, and situated
between the Kopua and Ormondville Stations. In
Block V. the ground is undulating, the soil light, and
covered with forest, chiefly red and white pine.
Block VI. is of a similar character, except that there
are small quantities of totara mixed with other bush.
Sections 1 and 2, Block X., are good soil, but hilly.
The bush is suitable for mills, and, owing to facilities
of communication by railway, the trade in timber is
increasing.
