NOTICE is hereby given that Messieurs RUSSELL
and DEVORE, of Auckland, in the Colony of
New Zealand, Solicitors, have applied, on behalf of
Mr. GRAVES AICKIN, also of Auckland, Chemist, to
register, under "The Trade Marks Act, 1866," the
trade mark of which the following is a description :β
Description of Trade Mark.
A square paper label of a violet colour, printed in
black. The central portion of the label is four inches
long and two inches and three-sixteenths of an inch
broad, and is divided on each side from the marginal
parts of the label by a straight black line. The whole
of the label is enclosed by two straight lines on each
of the four sides, the outside line being a thick black
straight line, the inside line being a thinner black
straight line. With the exception of the lines above
referred to, the whole of the label consists of letter-
press of the following description: The first line of
the central portion of the label consists of the words
"Aickin's Compound Syrup" in long primer latin capi-
tals. The next line is the word "of" in the centre, in
long primer latin small capitals. The third line is the
word "Eucalyptus," in pica sanserif capitals. The
fourth line is the word "with" in the centre, in long
primer latin small capitals. The fifth line consists
of the word "Hypophosphites," in two-line brevier latin
capitals. The sixth line is the word "of" in the
centre, in long primer latin small capitals. The
seventh line consists of the words "Lime and
Quinine," in long primer sanserif capitals. Then
follows a thin straight black line in the centre, an
inch in length. Then follow the words "An in-
valuable Pectoral Tonic, acting specifically in all Lung
Complaints, as Tubercular Consumption, Chronic
Bronchitis, Asthma, &c., &c.," set in italic nonpareil
type, and consisting of four lines, the first line
occupying the whole width of the central portion of
the label, and each line being proportionately small-
in width, the words being set in the centre. The
words "Lung Complaint" are in small-capital roman
nonpareil, the central letters L and C being in great
capitals. Then follows a straight black line in the
centre an inch in length. Then follow the words
"Under the influence of this medicine a healing effect
is produced upon disorganized and diseased tissues,
the appetite increases, the breathing becomes free,
nutrition is promoted, the night sweats cease, and a
gradual but permanent improvement is created."
These words comprise a simple paragraph consisting
of six lines, and set in roman nonpareil type. Then
follows a straight line in the centre an inch in length.
Then follows the paragraph: "Dose.-A teaspoon-
ful thrice daily, to be taken half an hour after
meals," set in italic nonpareil, the word "Dose"
being in capitals. Then follows a straight line in the
centre an inch in length. Then follow the words
"Prepared at the Pharmacy by," set in roman non-
pareil in the centre of the line, the initial letters of
the words "Prepared" and "Pharmacy" being in
capitals. Then follow the words "Graves Aickin,"
set in long primer ionic capitals, and spaced out so
as to occupy the whole of the line. Then follows the
line "Queen Street, Auckland," set in the centre, in
italic nonpareil capitals. Then follow the two bottom
lines enclosing the label. On the left-hand side of
the central portion of the label, and divided from the
central portion by a thin black straight line, are the
words "For the Relief and Cure of Chronic Bron-
chitis, Phthisis Pulmonalis (Wasting Consumption),
Chest Coughs, Hooping Cough, Asthma, and all Lung
Diseases." These words are
and consist of four lines running the length of the
label, and at right angles to the central portion. On
the right-hand side of the central portion by a thin
black straight line, are the words "Relieve Difficulty
of Breathing, Irritating Cough, Night Sweats, and
General Debility-promotes Expectoration, Incites
the Appetite, and Supports Nutrition." These words
are also set in pica italic type, and consist of four
lines running the length of the label, and at right
angles to the central portion of it. The whole is
printed in black ink.
Nature of the Article to which it is intended such
Trade Mark shall apply.
A medicine for the cure of lung complaints, as
tubercular consumption, chronic bronchitis, asthma,
&c.; prepared by Graves Aickin, Chemist, Auckland,
and called and known as "Aickin's Compound Syrup
of Eucalyptus with Hypophosphites of Lime and
Quinine."

NOTICE is hereby given that T. W. STRINGER,
of Christchurch, in the Colony of New Zealand,
Solicitor, has applied, on behalf of Messieurs ROBERT
WILKIN and COMPANY, also of Christchurch, in the
said colony, Importers and General Merchants, to
register, under "The Trade Marks Act, 1866," the
Trade Marks numbered 1 and 2, of which the follow-
ing is a description, viz. :β
Description of Trade Marks.
No. 1 is a label (used for bottles) about two inches
and seven-eighths of an inch in width by four inches
and one-fourth of an inch in length, with a white
veil ground, and a border with narrow straight lines of
gilt colour. In the centre of the label are the letters
OK in large type and printed in black ink, so as to
represent a shepherd's-plaid tartan. Across the
letters OK are written in red ink the words "Robert
Wilkin & Co." On the top of the label, and above
the letters OK, is the word "Pure," printed in
medium type and of gilt colour. At the bottom of
the label, and before the letters OK, are the words
"Scotch Whisky," also in medium type and of gilt
colour.
