Cancellation of Appointments of Receivers of Land-
Tax.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
cancel the appointments of all Receivers of
Land-Tax, notification of whose appointments ap-
peared in New Zealand Gazettes, dated the 11th
September, 1879, and the 2nd October, 1879, respec-
tively.

Native School Site at Kaikohe.

THE following report of the person appointed by
the Governor, under the provisions of "The
Native Schools Sites Act, 1880," to ascertain the
title of certain Natives to land at Kaikohe, Bay of
Islands, appropriated by them for the site of a school,
having been adopted by the Governor, is published in
accordance with the said Act.

SIR,—With reference to your letter of 9th October,
1880, informing me that His Excellency the Admin-
istrator of the Government had, in pursuance of
"The Native Schools Sites Act, 1880," appointed me
to ascertain the title of certain Natives to land at
Kaikohe, appropriated by them for the site of a
school, I have the honor to report that, after having
given notice by advertisement published in the
Northern Luminary of the 23rd October, 1880 (copies
of which paper I also sent to Natives residing at the
spot), I visited Kaikohe on the 3rd instant, and
after due inquiry am satisfied as to the ownership of
the land, and the willingness of the Native owners
to appropriate the same for the site of a school in
accordance with the requirements of "The Native
Schools Sites Act, 1880."

A tracing and description of the land, authenticated
by the stamp of the Auckland Survey Office, are
attached hereto. The description of the land is as
follows:—

All that piece or parcel of land containing by
admeasurement 3 acres and 12 perches, more or less,
situated in the Survey District of Omapere, Provincial
District of Auckland, being portion of Tawaraunui
Block. Bounded—North-easterly by a line, 468·5
links; on the South-east by a line, 670 links; on the
South-west by a road, 469 links; on the North-west
by a line, 644 links, to point of commencement.

Notice of Constructing a Road in the Norsewood
Survey District.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under
the provisions of "The Public Works Act,
1876," to execute a certain public work, to wit, the
construction of a road lying between theseventy-fourth
mile-peg on the Wellington-Napier Railway and the
Seventy-Mile Bush Road, twelve miles from Kopua,
in the Norsewood Survey District, in the County of
Waipawa, and for the purposes of such public work
the land described in the Schedule hereto is required
to be taken; and notice is further given that the
plan of the said road, and of the land so required to
be taken, is deposited in the Public Works Office at
Kopua, in the Takapau Survey District, and is there

open for inspection: And notice is hereby given
that all persons affected by the execution of the said
public work or by the taking of the said land shall,
if they have any well-grounded objections to the
execution of the said public work or to the taking
of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send
such writing, within forty days from the first publica-
tion of this notice, to the Minister for Public Works,
Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 4 acres 1 rood 10 perches more or
less, situate in the Survey District of Norsewood,
Block X., Waipawa County, being portion of Mana-
watu No. 3, Te Ohu Block, commencing at the
northernmost point on the Seventy-Mile Bush Road
at Matamau. Bounded—Generally Southerly and
Easterly by lines, 615, 259, and 3492 links re-
spectively; Westerly by Railway Reserve, 102 links;
generally Northerly and Westerly by lines, 3451,
218, and 594 links respectively; North-easterly by
Seventy-Mile Bush Road, 100 links to the com-
mencing point.

Dated at Wellington, this twenty-first day of
April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-one.

Notice to Mariners.—No. 15 of 1881.

CHANGE OF POSITION OF HARBOUR LIGHT, GREY
RIVER, WEST COAST OF MIDDLE ISLAND, N.Z.

Wellington, 26th April, 1881.

NOTICE is hereby given that the white light now
exhibited on the north side of the entrance to
the Grey River will, on the 2nd of May next, be
removed to the south side, and from that date until
the fifth of the same month (inclusive) will be shown
from a temporary flagstaff. After the 5th it will
be exhibited from the new flagstaff which is being
erected on the south side of the south training wall,
near the river mouth.

Alterations and Additions to the Rates for the Con-
veyance, Delivery, and Storage of Goods, Parcels,
&c., on the New Zealand Railways.

IN accordance with the By-laws for the New Zea-
land Railways, fixed by Order in Council dated
the 6th January, 1881, the following alterations
and additions to the rates for the conveyance,
delivery, and storage of goods, parcels, &c., on all the
New Zealand Railways, are hereby declared to be
fixed and to come into force from the 2nd May,
1881:—

PART IV.—LOCAL RATES.
STIRLING TO MILBURN.
Class N.

Coal refuse, Stirling to Milburn, will be charged
1s. 6d. per ton less than classified rates for Class N.
