Mining Notices.
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT A WATER-
RACE.
Totara, 14th March, 1881.
To the Mining Registrar at Ross.
I HEREBY give notice that I intend to construct a
Water-race to divert and use water for mining
purposes, commencing at a point at Sambo Creek, on
the south side of Mount Greenland Range, one mile
west of Ceder Creek, and taking one head of water
therefrom; crossing Ceder Creek and taking three
heads of water from it, and forming a reservoir on
line of race half a mile north of Ceder Creek. Area,
60 square yards by 8 feet deep. Also making
another reservoir on line of race, one and a half miles
north of Ceder Creek, of the same size as the first,
and passing through applicant's drainage area, and
taking eight heads of water from it, and terminating
at Zala's mining lease at the head of Black's Creek,
Greenland Range, having a by-wash at each reservoir
and at a distance of 10 chains along the line of race.
The length of such race is six miles, 200 feet
of which will be a tunnel or thereabouts, and its
intended course is east by west.
Time estimated for construction and completion,
two years.
The mean depth of such race is 2 feet, and the
mean breadth is 2 feet 6 inches, and it is proposed
to divert twelve Government-heads of water.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT A TAIL-
RACE.
To the Mining Registrar at Ross of the Totara
Mining District, and all other persons whom it
may concern.
TAKE notice that it is intended to construct a
Tail-race, commencing in Block 1006, Totara
Survey District, continuing in a southerly direction
for 88 chains or thereabouts, passing through Blocks
1006, 1325, 1190, 1018, 1187, 1174, Totara Survey
District, and terminating at the junction of Simpson
Street and the Bowen Road, Ross Town Reserve.
Said race to have a mean breadth and depth of 3 feet
at the bottom and 5 to 15 feet at the top by 0 to 17
feet for the first 30 chains; thence through a tunnel
3 feet 6 inches wide by 6 feet 6 inches high to its
termination at a depth of about 83 feet below the
surface. Capable of discharging forty Government-
heads of water.
The time required for the construction and com-
pletion of said race is 365 days.

NOTICE is hereby given that the following
Special Resolution was passed at an extra-
ordinary general meeting of the Shareholders of the
above Company, held at the Company's offices,
Pakington Street, Westport, in the Provincial Dis-
trict of Nelson, on the 8th day of March, 1881, and
confirmed at an extraordinary general meeting held
at the same offices in Pakington Street, Westport,
in the Provincial District of Nelson as aforesaid, on
the 11th day of April, 1881: "That the New Sun-
derland Coal-Mining Company (Limited) be wound
up voluntarily, under the provisions of "The Joint-
Stock Companies Act, 1860."
Mr. WILLIAM S. MUNDAY was appointed Liquida-
tor, and Mr. WALTER BULL, Auditor, for the purpose
of carrying out the above special resolution.
