  1. The Stores Manager shall keep a ledger at the
    head office of the quantities and values of stores at
    each depôt, which shall be compiled from the returns
    from the local depôts, and which shall be periodically
    compared and balanced with the general account kept
    by the Railway Accountant.

  2. A debtor and creditor general account shall be
    kept by the Railway Accountant, embracing the
    transactions of all the stores depôts.

  3. The cost of stores purchased shall be defrayed
    from the moneys from time to time appropriated for
    Working Railways by the General Assembly, and
    credit shall be taken in the Working Railway
    accounts for the value of sales to the public or to
    other Government departments, and for the value of
    stock in hand at the end of each financial year.

  4. The accounts and books shall be open for the
    inspection and audit of the Controller and Auditor-
    General.

Authorizing the taking and laying down of Roads
in the Wellington Provincial District.

ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.

IN exercise and pursuance of all powers and au-
thorities enabling me in this behalf by an Act of
the General Assembly intituled "The Crown Grants
Act, 1866," I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the Gover-
nor of the Colony of New Zealand, do authorize

ERASMUS ROBERT FOSTER, Esquire,
District Surveyor, of Wellington, to take and lay
down roads over the lands specified in Crown Grant
No. 6569, dated 13th April, 1881, for Section No. 78,
Block I., containing 64 acres 2 roods, situated in the
Kopuaranga Survey District and Opaki Registration
District, and for that purpose to exercise all such
powers as by the said Act may be exercised by a
person legally authorized in that behalf under the
said Act.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this sixth day of December,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
one.

Notification of the Relinquishment by Her Majesty
of Negotiations for the Purchase of certain Native
Lands in the North Island.

ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.

IN pursuance of the provisions of "The Govern-
ment Native Land Purchases Act, 1877," and
"The Government Native Land Purchases Act
Amendment Act, 1878," it is hereby notified that
Her Majesty the Queen, from this day forth, relin-
quishes the negotiations that have been entered into,
by or on behalf of Her said Majesty, for the purchase
or acquisition of the block of Native land in the
North Island which is more particularly described
and mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.
PARUAUKU No. 1.

ALL that parcel of land in the District of Otaki, in
the Provincial District of Wellington, known by the
name of Paruauku No. 1, containing by estimation
200 acres or thereabouts. Bounded on the North
and West by the Pukehou No. 4 Block; on the South
by the Pukehou No. 56 Block; and on the East by
the Paruauku No. 2 Block.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this thirteenth day of Decem-
ber, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-one.

Notification of the Payment of Money on and Entry
into Negotiations for the Purchase of Native Lands
in the North Island.

ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.

IN pursuance of the provisions of "The Govern-
ment Native Land Purchases Act, 1877," it is
hereby notified that money has been paid by or on
behalf of Her Majesty the Queen for the purchase
or acquisition of the block of Native land in the
North Island which is more particularly described
and mentioned in the Schedule hereto; and, further,
that negotiations in respect of such purchase or
acquisition as aforesaid have been entered into by or
on behalf of Her said Majesty.

SCHEDULE.
HOUPAPA.

ALL that parcel of land in the Poverty Bay District,
in the Provincial District of Auckland, known by the
name of Houpapa, containing by estimation 100,000
acres or thereabouts. Boundaries commencing at the
Hangaroa River, thence following along the line of
the Wharekopae Block, thence along the line of the
Motu Block to Moanui, thence to the westward to
Tahuna, thence to Tuangi, thence to Ngatokorara,
thence to Ngatataweka, thence to Tuhingamata,
thence to Rangitata, thence to Poharakeke, Te
Kakapo a te Ruati, thence to Whakarotu, thence
to Tupuni, thence to Anini, thence to Te Papuni,
thence following the boundary of the Tuahu Block,
thence to the point of commencement at Hangaroa.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this thirteenth day of Decem-
ber, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-one.

Appointing Time and Place for the first Meeting of
the Akaroa High School Board.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority vested in me for this purpose by "The
Akaroa High School Act, 1881," I, Arthur Hamilton
Gordon, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
do hereby appoint that the first meeting of the Board
of Governors of the Akaroa High School shall be
held at the Borough Council Offices at Akaroa, on
Monday, the nineteenth day of December current, at
three o'clock p.m.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this tenth day of December,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
one.
