Land taken for Ferry Approaches to the Manawatu
River.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule
hereto is required to be taken under "The
Public Works Act, 1876," and "The Public Works
Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878," for a certain work,
to wit, the construction of ferry approaches to the
Manawatu River:

And whereas the Minister for Public Works has
laid before the Governor the memorial and map
mentioned in and signed and certified as required
by the said Acts:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said colony, in exercise and pur-
suance of the powers and authorities in me vested
by sections twenty-one, twenty-two, twenty-three,
twenty-four, and twenty-five of "The Public Works
Act, 1876," and by section twenty-eight of "The
Public Works Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878," and
of any other power and authority enabling me in
that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that
the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby
taken for ferry approaches; and that, from and after
the fifteenth day of December, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-one, the land so described shall
become absolutely vested in fee-simple in Her
Majesty, discharged from all mortgages, charges,
claims, estates, and interests of what kind soever, for
use as ferry approaches.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Provincial Districts of Welling-
ton and Hawke's Bay, containing by admeasurement
30 acres 1 rood 19 perches, more or less. Bounded
towards the South and South-west by a right line
from a peg marked 4 situated on the left bank of the
Manawatu River about 60 links distant from said
river and about 558 links to the eastward of main
road 833 links, by a right line 584 links, by a right
line 1011 links, by a right line 911 links; towards the
North-west by a right line, 1000 links; towards the
North and North-east by a right line 1610 links, by a
right line 1048 links; and towards the South-east by
a right line, 781 links, to peg marked 4, the starting
point: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as
the same is delineated on the plan marked P.W.D.
8624, attached to the memorial above referred to.

Honorable Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
thirteenth day of December, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-one.

Sale of Land by Auction at Wellington.

A PROCLAMATION.

BY virtue and in pursuance of all powers and
authorities enabling me in that behalf, I, Arthur
Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that
the land described in the Schedule hereto will be put
up for sale by public auction, at the Crown Lands
Office, in the City of Wellington, on Tuesday, the
seventeenth day of January, one thousand, eight
hundred and eighty-two, at twelve o'clock noon.

Defining the Middle Line of Portion of the Picton-
Hurunui Railway, Vernon Contract.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the line of railway from Picton to
Hurunui is one of the railways specified in
the First Schedule to "The Public Works Act, 1879,"
and which Act is therein declared to be a special Act
authorizing the construction of such railway; and the
same is unfinished, and it has been determined to
construct and maintain a portion of such railway:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
and in pursuance of the powers and authorities
conferred on me by sections one hundred and twenty-
two, one hundred and twenty-three, one hundred and
twenty-four, and one hundred and twenty-five of
"The Public Works Act, 1876," and in exercise of
every other power and authority enabling me in that
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle
line of the said portion of the said railway shall be
from a point in Section number one, Omaka District,
to a point in Section number twenty-six, Opawa Dis-
trict, all within the Provincial District of Marlborough,
as defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto. The
said middle line and the land through which the same
passes are set forth in the map and plan marked
P.W.D. 8770, and authenticated for the purposes of
this Proclamation by the signature of the Honorable
Walter Woods Johnston, Minister acting for the
Minister for Public Works, and which said map and
plan is deposited in the office of the Registrar of the
