Gold-Mining Lease to be granted.

IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of
"The Mines Act, 1877," and with the regula-
tions made under that Act for the granting of leases
for gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it
is intended to grant a lease of Crown lands for gold-
mining purposes to the applicant specified in the
annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objec-
tions against such lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating
the grounds of objection, must be made in writing,
and lodged with the Warden at Lyell on or before
the 1st day of December, 1881.

Copy of the application made and plan annexed
may be seen at the Warden's Office at Lyell.

SCHEDULE.

APPLICANT: Louis Davies. Style under which it
is intended to conduct the business: "The No. 1
Gold Mining Company (Limited)." 16 acres 2
roods, south of and adjoining land applied for by
Zanetti and Cacace, Deep Creek, Lyell, in the Nelson
South-West Mining District.

Given under my hand, at Nelson, this eighth
day of November, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-one.

Changing Purpose of a Reserve in Canterbury.

Wellington, 24th October, 1881.

IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the
Governor intends, under the provisions of sec-

section 148 of "The Land Act, 1877," to change the
specific purpose of the land described in the second
column of the Schedule hereto, for which the land
was heretofore set apart as a reserve, as specified in
the first column of the said Schedule, to the specific
purpose specified in the third column of the said
Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

Description and Purpose of Reserve. Area of which the Purpose is intended to be Changed. Intended Purpose.
Section No. 380 (in red), 91 acres, in the Rangiora Survey District, Provincial District of Canterbury. For drainage and other purposes of public utility. All that parcel of land in the Rangiora Survey District, Provincial District of Canterbury, containing 91 acres, more or less. Bounded—North-eastward and Eastward by the road north of Section No. 6090 and the Eyre main drain reserve; Eastward by Section No. 6482; South-eastward and Southward by Sections Nos. 3685 and 5707; and South-westward and Westward by Section No 5635, and the continuation of the south-western boundary-line thereof to the northern bank of the River Eyre, and by Section No. 6090: and numbered 330 (in red) on the official map in the Survey Office, Christchurch. For the improvement and protection of the banks of the River Eyre, and for other purposes in connection with the overflow of the said river.
