Proclamation of Public Prison at Ripa Island.

A PROCLAMATION.
W HEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand intituled "The Prisons Act,
1873," it is provided that the Governor may from
time to time, as to him shall seem meet, by Proclama-
tion published in the New Zealand Gazette, declare
any house, building, enclosure, or place to be a public
prison; and from and after the publication of any
such Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, or
from any later time specified in the Proclamation,
such house, building, enclosure, or place shall be
deemed to be a public prison:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Ad-
ministrator of the Government of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare the
following place to be a public prison:—
The island in the Harbour of Lyttelton, known
as Ripa Island.
Given under the hand of His Excellency James
Prendergast, Esquire, the Administrator
of the Government of Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
thirteenth day of September, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eighty.

Land set apart on Deferred Payments in Taranaki.

A PROCLAMATION.
W HEREAS by the fifty-third section of "The
Land Act, 1877," it is enacted that the
Governor, by Proclamation in the Gazette, may from
time to time set apart out of any suburban or rural
lands such blocks or allotments of land as he shall
think fit, and set the same aside for sale on deferred
payments, and in such Proclamation may fix a day
on which the land shall be open for application; and
that he may also in like manner set apart for sale on
deferred payments such blocks or allotments as may
be recommended by any Land Board, and may also
from time to time alter, amend, or revoke any such
Proclamation:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Ad-
ministrator of the Government of the Colony of
New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power
and authority vested in me by the above-named Act,
do hereby proclaim and declare that the land de-
scribed in the Schedule hereto is set apart for sale
on deferred payments; and that Monday, the twenty-
fifth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty, shall be the day on which the said land shall
be open for application at the Land Offices at Carlyle
and Hawera, in allotments as surveyed and marked
on the selection map in those offices.
And, further, in pursuance of the fifth section of
"The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879," I do
hereby fix the price at which the land so described
shall be sold to be the price set opposite each allot-
ment in the Schedule hereto.
