THE following Notice to Mariners, received from
the Superintendent, Marine Survey of India, is
published for general information.

INDIA—WEST COAST.—DABHOL OR ANJANVEL.—
FIXED LIGHT AT TOLKESHWAR.
NOTICE is hereby given that a light will be exhibited
on Tolkeshwar Headland (the south shore of Dabhol
Creek, known also as Anjanvel or Gopalgal Creek)
from the 1st October to 1st June, commencing on
the 1st October, 1880.
The light will be a fixed white light, elevated 333
feet above the level of high water, and should be
visible in clear weather through an arc of 178°, or
between the bearings N. by W. 3 W. (nearly), and
S. by E. E., from a distance of about fifteen miles.
The column or post from which the light will be
exhibited is constructed of iron, is 6 inches in
diameter, 24 feet high, and painted white; it is
enclosed at its base by a circular iron house, also
painted white, and is situated about 100 yards W.
by S. from Tolkeshwar Temple.
The illuminating apparatus is dioptric, or by lenses
of the fifth order.
Position: Lat. 17° 33′ 50″ N., long. 73° 7′ 45″ E.
Bearings are magnetic and from seaward. Varia-
tion 1° easterly in 1880.

Additional Regulations made by the Mount Ida
Water-race Trust, under "The Mount Ida Water-
race Trust Act, 1878."

THE following additional regulations, made in
accordance with the provisions of section 19 of
"The Mount Ida Water-race Trust Act, 1878," to
the regulations dated the 24th December, 1879
and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 1, of
the 8th January, 1880, are approved.

It shall be lawful for the Trust to sell water
for purposes other than gold-mining, such as irriga-
tion, the driving of machinery, wool-scouring, or such
other purposes as the Trust shall think for the public
good, such water to be charged for at same rate as
that sold for mining purposes. -
It shall be lawful for the Trust, in case of water
being required for the purpose of driving machinery,
or for any purpose other than gold-mining, if such
water can be used and returned undiminished in
quantity and unpolluted, to make a special bargain
for the letting or supply of such water by lease or
otherwise, and for such term or period and at such
price as may be agreed on, anything in the foregoing
regulations to the contrary notwithstanding: Pro-
vided that every such lease or agreement shall
contain a condition that neither the Trust nor the
Government shall be bound to supply the water for
the whole term if during the currency of the lease
or agreement anything shall occur to prevent the
continuance of the supply; and that every such lease
or agreement shall be subject to suspension if all the
water from the race is at any time required for gold-
mining purposes.
