Sale of Waimate Plains.—Preliminary Notice.

Crown Lands Office,
Wellington, 1st September, 1880.

A PORTION of this country, comprising 7,000
acres, will be offered for sale about the end of
October next. It lies on the west bank of the Wai-
ngongoro River, has a frontage of nearly three miles to
the sea, and is a compact area (four by three miles) of
level and undulating land. The block is well-watered,
and is intersected by a well-formed metalled road,
being part of the main coast road-line from Hawera
to New Plymouth. The distance from Hawera to
the bridge across Waingongoro is four miles.

The land is surveyed into sections generally from
50 to 80 acres each. About one-third of the block
will be open for application on deferred payments,
and two-thirds will be offered for sale by public
auction.

Full particulars as to areas and time and place of
sale will shortly appear. Lithograph plans are in pre-
paration, and will be obtainable at all the land offices
in the colony on and after the 13th instant.

COOK COUNTY—PATUTAHI SURVEY DISTRICT.

Description of Land.—Section 83, front portion for
a width of 18 to 20 chains flat bush, kahikatea and
matai, bush portion broken fern and tutu, with bush
in the gullies, stream forms a fence, soil good; Sec-
tion 84, frontage averaging a width of 15 chains flat,
mostly bush, stream forms a fence, remaining portion
broken fern and tutu, with bush in the gullies; 97
and 98, broken, high fern and tutu, portion of bush,
soil good; 99, not much flat, generally broken,
especially the back, part of the section high fern and
tutu, bush in the gullies, soil good; 119, generally
very broken, covered with high fern and tutu, soil
good. Block V.: Section 1, very hilly, small flats
along banks of creek covered with fern, soil light but
fair quality; Section 2, very hilly, small flats along
banks of creek, small patch of bush, remainder fern;
Sections 3 and 4, very hilly, small flats along banks

of creek covered with fern and scrub, bush skirting
creek; Sections 5 and 6, no flat land, creek bank
steep, covered with fern and manuka, soil of mixed
quality.

Description of Land.—Block V.: Sections 7 and 8,
broken, soil light but fair, a little bush for firewood
in gullies, small flats along the river. Block IX.:
Sections 1 and 2, undulating and flat, soil fair but
light, well watered; Sections 3 and 4, broken, soil
light, covered with high fern and tutu, well watered.
Block X.: Section 1, undulating, soil light, well
watered, covered with high fern and tutu; Sections
2 and 3, undulating and flat, soil light, well watered,
covered with high fern, tutu, and grass. Block XIII.:
Section 1, all flat, well watered, covered with high
fern, tutu, and grass; Section 2, undulating and flat,
soil light, well watered, covered with high fern, tutu,
and grass. These lands are situate close to the road
from Frasertown to Lake Waikaremoana, and about
ten miles distant from the former.
