(herein referred to as "the Board"), subject to the
stipulations hereinafter contained, that is to say,–

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of
    business on the first Thursday in each month, at half-
    past eleven o'clock a.m., at Lincoln Road Board
    Office, or at such other time or place as may from
    time to time be fixed by the Board. The first
    meeting shall be held on Thursday, the tenth day of
    June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty.
  2. Special meetings may be convened by the Chair-
    man, or by any two members of the Board, provided
    that two days' notice of such meeting be given to
    each member, specifying the business to be trans-
    acted at such special meeting, and no other business
    than that so specified shall be transacted at such
    meeting.
  3. Any three of the said Board shall form a
    quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time
    to time.
  4. The members of the Board shall, at their first
    meeting, and thereafter at an annual meeting to be
    held on the first Monday in January in every suc-
    ceeding year thereafter, elect one of themselves to
    be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and
    shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The
    Chairman shall hold office until the election of his
    successor.
  5. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present
    at the time appointed for holding the same, the mem-
    bers present shall choose some one of their number
    to be Chairman of such meeting.
  6. If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or other-
    wise, the office of Chairman shall be or become
    vacant, the members may at any monthly or special
    meeting appoint a Chairman.
  7. All questions shall be determined by the ma-
    jority of votes of the members of the Board present
    at a meeting.

And whereas at a sitting of the Native Land Court
of New Zealand, held at Ohaeawai, in the Northern
District, in the County of Bay of Islands and the
Provincial District of Auckland, on the twenty-third
day of January, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty, the claim of Pomare Kingi and others,
aboriginal natives of New Zealand, to a piece of land
called Manurewa, situate at Ohaeawai, in the said
district, was heard and decided, and certain judg-
ments were thereupon made by the said Court :

And whereas on or about the twenty-eighth day of
January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty, an
application was made, by or on behalf of certain
aboriginal natives claiming to have an interest in the
said land, for a rehearing of the said claim; and it
is expedient that the said claim should be reheard
before the said Court:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in
exercise and pursuance of the said recited power, and
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of New Zealand, doth hereby order and
direct that the said claim of Pomare Kingi and others
to the piece of land aforesaid shall be reheard as and
in the manner provided by "The Native Land Act,
1873;" and doth also order that such rehearing shall
take place within one year from the date hereof.

Rehearing of Native Land Claim.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
eighteenth day of May, 1880.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by the fifty-eighth section of "The
Native Land Act, 1873" (hereinafter referred
to as "the said Act"), it is enacted that, upon the
application of any persons interested in any Native
land who may feel themselves aggrieved by the de-
cision of the Native Land Court in respect thereof,
the Governor in Council may order a rehearing of
any matter heard and decided under the provisions
of the said Act, within such a period of time from the
publication of the decision and memorial of owner-
ship in manner in the said Act required as may be
limited in such order; and, upon such order being
made, all proceedings theretofore taken by the Court
in such matter shall be annulled, and the case shall
commence de novo, and shall proceed in manner pro-
vided by the said Act: Provided that no application
for a rehearing shall be entertained if it be made
after six months shall have elapsed from the time of
such publication:

And whereas by the tenth section of "The Native
Land Act Amendment Act, 1878 (No. 2)," the time
for making application for rehearing is further
limited to three months:

And whereas at a sitting of the Native Land Court
of New Zealand, at Uawa, in the District of
Hawke's Bay, in the County of Cook, and the Provin-
cial District of Auckland, on the twelfth day of
March, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine,
the claim of Hori Raerena, an aboriginal native of
New Zealand, to succeed to the interest of One Rani-
era Raerena, deceased, in certain real estate, to wit,
two wooden houses and one raupo house, situate at
or in the neighbourhood of Uawa aforesaid, was
heard and decided, and a certain judgment was there-
upon made by the said Court:

And whereas on or about the seventeenth day of
