district, and comprised within the following boundary-
lines: Commencing at a point on Stony Creek, the
southern boundary of said Section No. 1 of 51, and
distant 230 links from the north-eastern corner or
angle of Section No. 11, Block I., Hawkesbury Dis-
trict, and running from the said point in a line bear-
ing 282° 7', a distance of 409 links; thence in a
line bearing 156° 25′, a distance of 424 links; thence
in a line bearing 237° 44', a distance of 60 links;
thence in a line bearing 156° 25', and running in a
south-south-easterly direction, a distance of 446 links;
thence in a line bearing 282° 7', a distance of 395
links to a point intersecting the said Stony Creek;
thence along the said creek a distance of 75 links
back to the point of commencement. Bounded on
the North-north-west by a road-line; on the West-
south-west, South, North-east and North-north-east
by other parts of said Section No. 1 of 51; and on
the South-east by the said Stony Creek, forming the
southern boundary-line of the said Section No. 1 of 51.
Be all the aforesaid measurements more or less,
as the same is more particularly delineated on the
map attached to the memorial referred to.

Honorable Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Depen-

and Her Majesty's High Commissioner
for the Western Pacific; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
seventh day of December, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred

Declaring Land open for Sale within the Mining
District of Westland.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the one hundred and fifty-fourth
section of "The Land Act, 1877," it is enacted
that the Governor, by Proclamation, may from time
to time declare any Crown lands within any mining
district, not held under license or lease at the date of
such Proclamation, or over which the license or lease
has been cancelled, to be open for sale or selection,
in sections of such size and form, and on such date,
as he may determine; and any lands so proclaimed
may hereafter be sold at a like price, and subject to
the like terms and conditions, or as near thereto as
may be, as Crown lands of the same class not within
a mining district: And the Governor may from
time to time alter, amend, or revoke any such Pro-
clamation:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby declare that the land specified in the Sche-
dule hereto shall be open for sale, and that the
fifteenth day of January next ensuing shall be the
day on which the said land shall be open for sale.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land being Block No. CXLVIII.,
south side of Waitaha River, at Okarito Road-
crossing, containing 640 acres, more or less, situated
in the Provincial District of Westland, in Blocks
XII. and XVI. on the map of the Waitaha Survey
District. Bounded towards the North by the Oka-
rito Road; towards the East by the road along the
Waitaha River; towards the South by a line parallel
with north boundary; and towards the West by a
line generally parallel with eastern boundary, and
40 chains distant from same subject to necessary
reserves, and exclusive of rights under "The Mines
Act, 1877."

Te Aroha Block set apart for Special Settlement.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and
authorities conferred upon me by the twenty-
fourth section of "The Land Act 1877 Amendment
Act, 1879," I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
proclaim and declare that the block of land described
in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same is
hereby set apart and declared open for a special
settlement, to be formed by Messrs. Samuel Grant
and John Stovin Foster, upon such terms and condi-
tions as are fixed by the Order in Council of even
date herewith, and made under the twenty-fifth
section of the said Act.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Auckland, being parts of Blocks I., II., III., V., VI.,
and VII., Wairere Survey District, and containing
by admeasurement 17,600 acres, more or less.
Bounded towards the North by the Aroha Survey
District to the Waihou River; thence towards the
East by that river; towards the South-east, North-
east, and North-west by the Manawaru Block to
the said Waihou River; thence across the river ;
towards the West by the said Waihou River to the
Native reserve; thence again towards the North
and West by the said Native reserve; again towards
the North by the said Aroha Survey District to the
Confiscation boundary; thence again towards the
East by the said Confiscation boundary; again
towards the South-east by the Waiharakeke East
and Waiharakeke West Blocks; towards the South-
west by the Hungahunga No. 4, Hungahunga No. 1,
Hungahunga No. 2, and Orongomairoa Blocks; and
again towards the North-west by the Waitukau
No. 4 and Te Kapara Blocks to the said Aroha
Survey District; excluding from the lands herein-
before described all necessary roads, the Waihou
