Application for Registration of Two Trade Marks.
NOTICE is hereby given that Messieurs BUCKLEY,
STAFFORD, and FITZHERBERT, of Wellington, in
the Colony of New Zealand, Solicitors, have applied,
on behalf of WILLIAM MCEWAN, of Edinburgh, Scot-
land, Brewer, to register, under "The Trade Marks
Act, 1866," the trade marks of which the following
are descriptions, viz. :-
Description of Trade Marks.
No. 1 is an oval with lined and key borders, within
on the left is the word "McEwan's," followed by a
space in which to insert the nature, quality, or
description of the goods sold or other printed matter.
In the centre is another oval, with lined and orna-
mental borders, enclosing the representation of a
globe supported by a human hand and wrist on a
crest-bar. The borders of the inner oval are broken
at the bottom by a ribband, under and partly sur-
rounded by which is the word "Edinburgh," having
an ornamentation above and below. The ribband
bears the words "Trade Mark."
No. 2 consists of the representation of two crossed
flags, the one on the left being the Royal Standard,
and that on the right the Union Jack. At the
crossing point of the flags on a crest-bar is the repre-
sentation of a human hand and wrist supporting a
globe, over which is the word "McEwan's."
Nature of the Article to which it is intended such
Trade Mark shall apply.

Alterations and Additions to the Rates for the Con-
veyance, Delivery, and Storage of Goods, Parcels,
&c., on the New Zealand Railways.
IN accordance with the By-laws for the New Zea-
land Railways, fixed by Order in Council dated
the 17th December, 1878, the following alterations
and additions to the rates for the conveyance,
delivery, and storage of goods, parcels, &c., on all the
New Zealand Railways, are hereby declared to be
fixed and to come into force from the 29th November,
1880:-
PART IV.- LOCAL RATES
AMBERLEY-BLUFF SECTION.
Mileage.
For the purpose of charging for the conveyance
of passengers between Dunedin and Caversham, and
between Dunedin and Ravensbourne, the distance in
each case will be deemed to be two miles.
