Additional Regulations under the Maori Representa-
tion Acts.

A PROCLAMATION.
W HEREAS by a Proclamation bearing date the
twenty-second day of August, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine, and published in
the New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-second day of
August, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
nine, regulations were made under "The Maori
Representation Act, 1867," and other Acts amending
or continuing the same: And whereas it was by the
said regulations, among other things, provided that
the name of the person so declared to be elected
shall be indorsed on the writ by the Returning
Officer as the person duly elected in pursuance
thereof, and the writ shall be returned by him to the
Governor forthwith, who shall transmit the same to
the Clerk of the Writs, to be by him forwarded to
the Speaker of the House of Representatives:
Now, therefore, I, Sir Hercules George Robert
Robinson, the Governor of the Colony of New Zea-
land, by virtue and in pursuance of the power
enabling me in that behalf under the said "Maori
Representation Act, 1867," and other Acts as afore-
said (hereinafter called "the said Acts"), do hereby
proclaim the following additional regulation under
the said Acts, that is to say: It shall be lawful for
the said Returing Officer to return, or cause to be
returned, to the Governor, by electric telegraph, the
contents of the said writ in the mode specified in
and under and subject to the provisions of "The
Regulation of Elections Act Amendment Act, 1874."

Defining the Middle Line of Portion of Railway from
Napier to a Junction with the Railway from New
Plymouth to Waitara, at Sentry Hill (Manga-
whero Section, 6 miles 60 chains).

A PROCLAMATION.
W HEREAS the railway from Napier to a junc-
tion with the railway from New Plymouth to
Waitara, at Sentry Hill, passing by Pakipaki, Wai-
pawa, Waipukurau, Takapan, the Manawatu Gorge,
Bunnythorpe, and Wanganui, with a branch from the
main line at Bunnythorpe to Foxton through Pal-
merston, is one of the railways specified in the Fourth
Schedule to "The Public Works Act, 1876," and the
same is unfinished, and it has been determined to
construct and maintain a further portion of such
railway:
Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert
Robinson, the Governor of the Colony of New Zea-
land, in exercise and in pursuance of the powers and
authorities conferred on me by sections one hundred
and twenty-two, one hundred and twenty-three, one
hundred and twenty-four, and one hundred and
twenty-five of "The Public Works Act, 1876," and
in exercise of every other power and authority en-
abling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the middle line of the said further portion
of the said railway shall be from a point situate
in Celia Street, Township of Stratford, to a point
marked twenty-nine miles, all within the Provincial
District of Taranaki. The said middle line and the
land through which the same passes are set forth
in the map and plan marked P.W.D. 7198, and
authenticated for the purposes of this Proclamation
by the signature of the Honorable James Macan-
drew, Minister for Public Works, and which said
map and plan is deposited in the office of the Registrar
of the Supreme Court at New Plymouth, in the
Provincial District of Taranaki.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point situate in Celia Street,
Township of Stratford, said point being the termina-
tion of a portion of the railway from Waitara to
Wanganui, as described in the Proclamation dated
the 26th day of February, 1879, and published in the
New Zealand Gazette No. 24, of the 27th of February,
1879, and proceeding thence in a generally southerly
direction for a distance of six (6) miles sixty (60)
chains or thereabouts, and terminating at a point
twenty-nine (29) miles; including all lands, roads,
reserves, rivers, and watercourses; all situated within
the Provincial District of Taranaki, in the Colony of
New Zealand; in the manner delineated on the map
and plan marked P.W.D. 7198, signed by the Honor-
able James Macandrew, Minister for Public Works,
deposited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme
Court at New Plymouth, in the Provincial District of
Taranaki; the total length being six (6) miles sixty
(60) chains or thereabouts.

Foxton, by West Coast, is one of the railways
specified in "The Immigration and Public Works
Appropriation Act, 1878," and which Act is therein
declared to be a special Act for the said railway,
within the meaning of "The Public Works Act,
1876:" And whereas it has been determined to
construct and maintain a portion of such railway:
Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert Robin-
son, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
in exercise and in pursuance of the powers and
authorities conferred on me by sections one hundred
