Revocation of Exemption of certain Land from Occu-
pation for Mining, &c., Purposes, within the Hau-
raki Gold-Mining District.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by a Proclamation dated the fourth
day of May, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-five, under the hand and seal of Sir George
Grey, issued by virtue of the powers delegated to him
by the Governor in Council under "The Gold-Mining
Districts Act, 1873," the piece of land situated within
the Hauraki Gold-Mining District, particularly
described in the Schedule hereto, was exempted from
occupation for mining purposes, or for machine sites,
or for business, or for residence: And whereas it
is expedient and desirable that the said exemption
should be revoked:
Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert Robin-
son, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by
virtue of the powers and authorities vested in me by
the fifth section of "The Gold-Mining Districts Act,
1871," and the ninth section of "The Gold-Mining
Districts Act, 1873," do hereby revoke the exemption
contained in the Proclamation above mentioned, and
referring to the land described in the Schedule
hereto.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece of ground within the Hauraki Gold-
Mining District, containing by admeasurement 2
acres and 1 rood, commencing at a point bearing
179° 2', 67.5 links from the south-east corner of the
Shamrock Battery, Waiotahi Creek; thence to the
south-west peg of the Ballarat and Rising Sun Gold-
Mining License, 110° 36', 130.7 links; thence along
the southern boundary of the Ballarat and Rising
Sun Gold-Mining License, 76° 38', 560 links; thence
158° 25', 394 links; thence 256° 38', 303 links; thence
111° 50', 689 links; thence to starting point, 51° 13',
156.6 links: all bearings being magnetic.

guished Order of Saint Michael and Saint
George, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
fourth day of July, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-nine.

Declaring Lands open for Free Selection, Hawke's
Bay.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the fourth section of "The Crown
Lands Sales Act, 1877," it is enacted that,
from and after the coming into operation of that Act,
and until further provision is made for the classifica-
tion of Crown lands by the General Assembly, all
Crown lands shall be sold in accordance with the
law in force in the land district where such lands are
situated, but not in any case at a less price than two
pounds per acre, if by free selection; and in the event
of any land having to be sold at auction after appli-
cation to purchase, then the upset price at which such
land shall be put up to auction shall be at such price
per acre as the Waste Land Board may determine,
not being less than the price at which the land was
open for application: Provided that, after lands
have been put up to auction at a price of not less
than one pound per acre, the said land may, by Pro-
clamation by the Governor, be open to free selection
at a price of not less than one pound per acre:
And whereas the lands specified in the Schedule
hereto have been put up to auction at a price of not
less than one pound per acre, and were not sold, and
it is expedient that the same lands should be opened
to free selection:
Now, therefore, I, Sir Hercules George Robert
Robinson, the Governor of the Colony of New Zea-
land, in pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority vested in me by the hereinbefore recited
Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the lands in
the Provincial District of Hawke's Bay specified in
the Schedule hereto are opened to free selection at a
price of not less than one pound per acre.
