WELLINGTON, WEDNESDAY, JULY 2, 1879.
Teachers holding Certificates or Licenses under "The
Education Act, 1877."
Education Department,
Wellington, 30th June, 1879.
IN accordance with section sixteen of an Order
in Council, under "The Education Act, 1877,"
dated the 24th September, 1878, the following
list of teachers entitled to hold certificates or
licenses to teach, under the provisions of the said
Order in Council, is published. The status here
assigned to each teacher is that which is due at this
date, after taking into account additional service or
higher marks given by an Inspector since the teacher
received the first notice of classification. The certifi-
cates will be sent to the teachers in the course of a
few weeks, and in future years the annual lists will
set forth the reason of any promotion by which those
certificates may be affected. An asterisk denotes
that a certificate is provisional, or that the issue of
the certificate is deferred. Teachers who have been
offered classification and refused it, or not signified
their intention to accept it, are not included in the
list. Some teachers who have proved their claims to
certificates are not yet classified, because their status
cannot be defined until Inspectors' marks have been
assigned, as required by the Order in Council.
