-NORTH COAST.
Shoal Coral Ground in Strait of Banka.
THE Netherlands Government has given notice of
the existence of two coral shoals lying nearly in the
fairway of Strait of Banka, north coast of Celebes
Island:-
- A shoal, on which the least water found was
3 1/2 fathoms, lying with the following bearings, viz :-
Cape Coffin ... S. 56° E.
Likoepang Flagstaff ... S. 39 1/4° W.
North Cape ... N. 80° W. - A shoal, on which the shoalest depth obtained
was 6 1/2 fathoms, situated 9 cables north-west of the
above shoal, and lying with the following bearings,
viz.:-
Cape Coffin ... S. 54 1/4° E.
Likoepang Flagstaff... S. 31° W.
North Cape ... N. 85 1/4° W.
NOTE. -The south point of Nain Island just open
of North Cape leads northward of this shoal ground.
The bearings are magnetic. Variation 1 1/4° easterly
in 1879.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Registrar of
Friendly Societies has, pursuant to section 11
of "The Friendly Societies Act, 1877," by writing
under his hand dated the 3rd day of April, 1879,
cancelled the registry of "The Right Worthy Grand
Lodge of New Zealand, Independent Order of Odd-
fellows" (Register No. 111), with a view to registra-
tion (as a Society having branches) of the Society of
which it is the central body, viz.: "The Independent
Order of Oddfellows of New Zealand."

PURSUANT to the provisions of an Act of the
General Assembly of New Zealand, passed in
the eighteenth year of the reign of Her Majesty
Queen Victoria, and intituled "The Marriage Act,
1854," the following names of Officiating Ministers
within the meaning of the said Act are published for
general information:-
Presbyterian Church of Otago and Southland.
The Reverend John Lothian.
Wesleyan Methodist Society.
The Reverend Otter Christoffersen.

Gold-Mining Lease to be granted.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of
"The Mines Act, 1877," and with the regula-
tions made under that Act for the granting of leases
for gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it
is intended to grant a lease of Crown lands for gold-
mining purposes to the applicants specified in the
annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objec-
tions against such lease.
Objections to granting such lease, stating the
grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and
lodged with the Warden at Lawrence on or before
the 9th day of May, 1879.
Copy of the application made and plan annexed
may be seen at the Warden's Office at Lawrence.
SCHEDULE.
APPLICANTS: John C. Arbuckle and others. Style
under which it is intended to conduct the business:
"The St. Lawrence Cement and Quartz Gold-Mining
Company." 10 acres, at Tuapeka East, in the Tuapeka
Mining District.
Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this twenty-
ninth day of March, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-nine.
