(d) Assets and liabilities were not shown in the returns for counties. The cash in hand at date of balancing (1st April, 1878) can only be shown under this head.
NOTE.—The returns of revenue and expenditure, in the different Tables of which this is a summary, represent the net receipts and expenditure of the year, exclusive of credit and debit balances, bank over-
drafts, loans, &c.
