Tariff of Charges on the New Zealand Railways.
IN accordance with the power vested in me by By-law 52 of the By-laws for the New Zealand Railways,
made by Order in Council dated the 17th day of December, 1878, I hereby give notice that the following
scale of fares and charges for the conveyance of passengers and for the carriage and delivery of goods and
parcels on the New Zealand Railways is hereby fixed in lieu of that at present in force, and that such
scale shall come into force on the 1st day of December, 1879.

PART I.—PASSENGERS.
I.—ORDINARY TICKETS.
FIRST CLASS, SINGLE ... 3D. PER MILE. MINIMUM CHARGE... 6D.
SECOND " ... 2D. " " " 4D.
FIRST CLASS, RETURN ... 4½D. " " " 9D.
SECOND " ... 3D. " " " 6D.
CHILDREN UNDER 3 YEARS OF AGE TRAVEL FREE.
" 14 " HALF RATES.
Mileage for Return Tickets is to be counted one way only.
Return Tickets will be available for return for distances of 25 miles and under on
the day of issue only; for each additional 25 miles or fraction thereof, one day's
extension of time will be allowed for the return journey.
Ordinary Single Tickets issued on Saturdays and Sundays will be available as
Return Tickets until the end of the following Monday.
II.—SEASON TICKETS AND SCHOOL TICKETS.
Application for Season and School Tickets must be made to the Manager of the
line, upon a form to be obtained from any Station Clerk.
