And whereas the said reserve is for one of the
purposes named in Part I. of the Schedule to "The
Public Reserves Act Amendment Act, 1878," and, in
the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient to change
the purpose of the portion of such reserve referred
to in the Schedule hereto to one of the purposes
named in the said Part I., as hereinafter mentioned:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, and in exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by the sixth section of "The Public
Reserves Act Amendment Act, 1878," doth hereby
order and direct that the purpose of the portion of
the reserve mentioned in the first column of the
Schedule hereto shall be changed from that of a
reserve as a site for a public hall and other purposes
of public utility, and doth hereby declare and define
the purpose of the said portion of such reserve to
be that specified in the second column of the said
Schedule, the same being one of the purposes named
in Part I. of the Schedule to the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

Description of Land Reserved. Purpose to which Reserve Changed.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial

District of Hawke's Bay, situated in the
Township of Clyde, being portion of Section
No. 425, and containing by admeasurement
13 perches, more or less. Bounded towards
the North by the Marine Parade, 34 links;
towards the East by Section No. 426, 250
links; towards the South by Section No.
339, 34 links; and towards the West by
other portion of Section No. 425 aforesaid,
250 links: be all the aforesaid linkages
more or less; as the same is delineated on
the plan deposited in the Survey Office,
Napier. | For a public

Land in the Town of Riverton Extension, not re-
quired for public use, authorized to be sold.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-third day of September, 1879.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section twenty-nine of "The
Public Works Act, 1876," and by section
nine of "The Public Works Act 1876 Amendment
Act, 1878," it is enacted that, if it is found that any
land taken for Government works is not required
for public use, the Governor may, by an Order in
Council, publicly notified and gazetted, cause the
same to be sold under the conditions therein set
forth: And whereas certain sections in the Town of
Riverton Extension, to wit, Sections one, two, three,
four, five, six, seven, and eight, of Block VI., on the
plan of Riverton Extension, are not required for rail-
way purposes:

Now, therefore, I, Sir Hercules George Robert
Robinson, the Governor of the Colony of New Zea-
land, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise
and pursuance of the powers and authorities afore-
said, and every other power and authority, do hereby
order and authorize the said sections in the Town of
Riverton Extension to be sold by public auction at
the upset price of six pounds ten shillings per sec-
tion, with a payment added of one hundred pounds
to Mr. Duffy, the present occupier, for improvements
effected by him.

Regulation for the Examination of Teachers.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-third day of September, 1879.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

BY virtue of the powers and authorities vested in
me by "The Education Act, 1877," I, Sir
Hercules George Robert Robinson, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, do hereby make the following regulation for
the examination of teachers, that is to say:β€”

  1. At any examination held under the authority of
    the Order in Council of the twenty-fourth day of
    September, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
    eight, further examination in vocal music shall not be
    required in the case of any candidate who holds the
    "Intermediate Certificate," of "The Tonic Sol-Fa
    College," provided that such "Intermediate Certifi-
    cate" bear the letters "O.N." [Old Notation] duly
    attested.

  2. This regulation shall come into force upon the
    date hereof.

Amended Regulations for Management, &c., of
Railway Stores.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-third day of September, 1879.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by Order in Council bearing date the
twelfth day of August, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy nine, and published in the New
Zealand Gazette of the fourteenth day of August, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy nine, certain
regulations relating to railway stores were made
under the eighty-fifth section of "The Public
Revenues Act, 1878:" And whereas it is expedient
that the said regulations should be repealed and
revoked, and amended regulations made:

Now, therefore, His Excellency Sir Hercules George
Robert Robinson, the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, by virtue and in exercise of the power con-
ferred upon him by the said eighty-fifth section of
"The Public Revenues Act, 1878," and by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of
the said colony, doth hereby repeal and revoke the
aforesaid regulations of the said twelfth day of
August, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
nine, and doth also hereby make the new regulations
for the management and custody of railway stores,
and for accounting for the same, contained in the
Schedule hereto; and it is hereby also, with the like
advice and consent as aforesaid, ordered that this
