Gold-Mining Lease in Nelson South-West Mining
District cancelled.

IN conformity with Regulations 23 and 24 of
Appendix A to "The Mines Act, 1877," it is
hereby notified that the gold-mining lease described
below, having been refused by the applicant, His
Excellency the Governor has been pleased to cancel
the lease, and the ground is open for application as
if no lease of the said ground had ever been applied
for.

HENRY COSGROVE, for the Lyell Creek Com-
pany, Alpine Range, Lyell, Nelson South-
West Mining District; 9 acres 3 roods.

PURSUANT to the provisions of an Act of the
General Assembly of New Zealand, passed in
the eighteenth year of the reign of Her Majesty
Queen Victoria, and intituled "The Marriage Act,
1854," the following names of Officiating Ministers
within the meaning of the said Act are published for
general information:---

Church of the Province of New Zealand, commonly
called the Church of England.

The Reverend ARTHUR HENRY SEDGWICK.

The Presbyterian Church of Otago and Southland.

The Reverend JAMES CAMERON.

I, DAVID LEWIS, a Commissioner, duly ap-
pointed by virtue of the Ordinance No. 15,
Session XI, of the Legislative Council of the
Islands of New Zealand, to hear and decide claims to
land by persons claiming title thereto from, through,
or under the New Zealand Company, report that the
claim of Henry Westwood Hoffman having been
referred to me for investigation, I do hereby decide
that the said Henry Westwood Hoffman is entitled
to receive a Crown grant of Section No. 1021, in the
City of Wellington, the legal estate to be antevested
therein as from the 3rd day of January, 1848.

Dated at Wellington, this 18th day of September,
1878.

19th October proximo, at the Land Office in Carlyle,
at the upset prices set opposite the respective
numbers.

made under that Act for the granting of leases for
gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is
intended to grant a lease of Crown lands for gold-
mining purposes to the applicant specified in the
