Alterations and Additions to the Rates for the Con-
veyance, Delivery, and Storage of Goods, Parcels,
&c., on all the New Zealand Railways.

IN accordance with the By-laws for the New Zea-
land Railways, fixed by Order in Council, dated
the 17th day of April, 1877, the following alterations
and additions to the rates for the conveyance, deli-
very, and storage of goods, parcels, &c., on all the
New Zealand Railways, are hereby declared to be
fixed, and shall come into force as stated below.

GREYMOUTH to BRUNNERTON RAILWAY, GREY
GORGE BRIDGE.

To come into force from this date.

The following charges will be made: For each
head of cattle or horses, one shilling (1s.); for each
ton of goods, one shilling and sixpence (1s. 6d.);
maximum charge, sixpence (6d.)

CONVEYANCE NATIVE COALS.

To come into force on and from the 1st day of
February, 1878.

Conveyance of Native coals from collieries, in Go-
vernment trucks, one shilling and sixpence (1s. 6d.)
per ton for distance of three (3) miles and under;
two shillings and sixpence (2s. 6d.) per ton for dis-
tances over three (3) miles and not exceeding fifteen
(15) miles; twopence (2d.) per ton per mile for each
additional mile up to twenty-five (25) miles; three
halfpence (1 d.) per ton per mile for each additional
mile up to fifty (50) miles; one penny (1d.) per ton
per mile for each additional mile. Full truck charged
for. Minimum charge on any one consignment to be
seven pounds (£7).

Trucks will be allowed to remain at coal pits eight
(8) working hours for the purpose of loading, after
which demurrage will be charged at the rate of £1
per day or fraction thereof.

Any time from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. counted as working
hours.

Sheep Inspector's Notice.

Crown Lands Office,
Wellington, 12th January, 1878.

THE Inspector for the Wairarapa and East Coast
District reports that the number of sheep within
his district on which assessment has been paid, for
the year ending December 31st, 1877, is 302,103,
being an increase over the year 1876 of 7,901; and
that the fees paid amount to £629 7s. 7d.

The few flocks now diseased are being carefully
attended to, and will probably be reported clean
shortly.
