HEATHCOTE ROAD BOARD.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under
the provisions of "The Public Works Act, 1876,"
to execute a certain workβ€”to wit, the construction of
a road in the Road District of Heathcote, and for the
purposes of such public works the lands described in
the Schedule hereto are required to be taken. And
notice is further given that the plan of the land so
required to be taken is deposited at the Road Board
Office, Ferry Road, County of Selwyn, in the Provin-
cial District of Canterbury, and are there open for
inspection. And notice is also hereby given that all
persons affected by the execution of the said public
work, or by the taking of the said lands, shall, if they
have any well-grounded objections to the execution
of the said work, or to the taking of such lands set
forth the same in writing, and send such writing
within forty days from the first publication of this
notice to the Chairman of the Heathcote Road Board,
Ferry Road.

THE SCHEDULE ABOVE REFERRED TO.

ALL that parcel of land, part of Rural Section No.
30, on the plan of the Chief Surveyor of the Provin-
cial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasure-
ment 1 rood 36 perches, more or less, commencing
at a point on the eastern side of the road forming the
western boundary of the said section, distant 550
links from the south-western corner of the said
section, extending along the eastern side of the said
road for a distance of 100 links, and extending thence
at a right angle easterly in a rectangular figure for a
distance of 479 links.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT WATER-
RACE.

To the Mining Registrar at Cromwell of the Otago
Gold Fields Mining District, and all other persons
whom it may concern.

TAKE notice that it is intended to construct a
Water-race and to divert water under the pro-
visions and for all or any of the purposes comprised
and described in section 31 of "The Mines Act,
1877." Commencing at a point on the east side of
the River Hawea about two and a half miles above
its junction with the River Clutha, and termi-
nating at a point in the River Clutha about eight
chains below McPherson's Punt, with two by-washes,
the first about twenty chains, and the other about
two miles from the commencing point of said race.
The length of such race is about three and a quarter
miles or thereabouts, and its intended course is north
and south.

The time required for the construction and com-
pletion of such race is estimated to be six months,
and a license is asked for fifteen years.

The mean depth of such race is 3 feet, and the
mean breadth is 2 feet, and it is proposed to divert
four Government heads of water.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT WATER-
RACE.

UNDER SECTION 31, "MINES ACT, 1877."

Otago Gold Fields, 9th August, 1878.
To the Mining Registrar, also to the Warden at
Arrow.

TAKE notice that it is intended to construct a
Water-race to divert and use water for domestic
and irrigation purposes, commencing at a point in
the Royal Burn, in the north corner of my paddock,
situate on south-east side of said Royal Burn,
Whitechapel Flat, Arrow River, and terminating at
Arrow River, below my homestead, Whitechapel
Flat.

The length of such race is two miles or there-
abouts, and its intended course is southerly.

The mean depth of such race is 9 inches, and
the mean breadth is 2 feet, and it is proposed to
divert half a Government head of water.

To the Warden at Takaka.

I HEREBY give notice that I intend to use an
abandoned Dam and Water-race to divert and
use water for mining purposes, commencing at a
point in Pratten's Gully, and terminating at my
claim.

The length of such race is three-quarters of a
mile or thereabouts, and its intended course is east.

The mean depth of such race is 1 foot, and the
mean breadth is 1 foot, and it is proposed to divert
one Government head of water.

Gully, Wetherstone, about 1,000 yards from the
PhΕ“nix Company's Race; and terminating at Section
23, Block XIX., Tuapeka East.
