Captain Thomas Leitch Murray, Thames Scottish
Rifle Volunteers, to be Major. Date of com-
mission, 15th July, 1878.

In the Invercargill Artillery Volunteers.
George Cecil Jackson to be Honorary Assistant-
Surgeon. Date of commission, 20th June, 1878.

In the Invercargill Engineer Volunteers.
William George McClure to be Honorary Assistant-
Surgeon. Date of commission, 4th June, 1878.

In the Thames Naval Volunteers.
Thomas Lawless to be Sub-Lieutenant. Date of
commission, 29th April, 1878.

In the Oamaru Grammar School Cadets.
Robert Peattie to be Captain. Date of commission,
10th July, 1878.

disband
The Tauranga Rifle Volunteers
at their own request.

The under-mentioned gentleman has therefore
ceased to hold the rank of officer in the Volunteer
Force, his commission having, under the provisions of
"The Volunteer Act, 1865," lapsed :-

Arthur Washington Burrows, Esq., late Lieu-
tenant.
