PATENT FOR AN IMPROVEMENT IN STEAM-
THRESHING MACHINES.
THIS is to notify that HERBERT O'BRINE, of
Christchurch, in the Provincial District of
Canterbury, Mechanical Engineer, did, on this thir-
teenth day of May instant, deposit at the office of
the Patent Officer, in the Colonial Secretary's Office,
in Wellington, a specification or instrument in
writing under his hand and seal, particularly de-
scribing and ascertaining the nature of the said
Invention, and in what manner the same is to be
performed; and that by reason of such deposit the
said Invention is protected and secured to him exclu-
sively for the term of six calendar months thence
next ensuing.
And I do further notify that the said Herbert
O'Brine has given notice in writing at my office of
his intention to proceed with his application for
Letters Patent for the said Invention, and that I
have appointed Friday, the twenty-seventh day of
September next, at eleven o'clock in the forenoon, at
my office, to hear and consider the said application
and all objections thereto; and I do hereby require
all persons having an interest in opposing the
grant of such Letters Patent to leave, on or before
the twenty-third day of September next, at my office,
in Wellington, particulars in writing of their objec-
tions to the said application, otherwise they will be
precluded from urging the same.

ING THE CUT OF A PLOUGHSHARE.
THIS is to notify that WALTER HOGG, of Christ-
church, County of Selwyn, New Zealand, Imple-
ment Manufacturer, did, on this third day of June
instant, deposit at the office of the Patent Officer, in
the Colonial Secretary's Office, in Wellington, a
specification or instrument in writing under his
hand and seal, particularly describing and ascertain-
ing the nature of the said Invention, and in what
manner the same is to be performed; and that by
reason of such deposit the said Invention is protected
and secured to him exclusively for the term of six
calendar months thence next ensuing.
And I do further notify that the said Walter Hogg
has given notice in writing at my office of his inten-

THIS is to notify that WILLIAM ANDREWS, PETER
DUNCAN, and DAVID DUNCAN, all of Christ-
church, New Zealand, Engineers, did, on the fifth
day of June instant, deposit at the offce of the Patent
Officer, in the Colonial Secretary's Office, in Welling-
ton, a specification or instrument in writing under
their hands and seals, particularly describing and
ascertaining the nature of the said Invention, and in
what manner the same is to be performed; and that
by reason of snch deposit the said invention is pro-
tected and secured to them exclusively for the term
of six calendar months thence next ensuing.
And I do further notify that the said William
Andrews, Peter Duncan, and David Duncan have
given notice in writing at my office of their intention
to proceed with their application for Letters Patent
for the said Invention, and that I have appointed
Friday, the 27th day of September next, at eleven
o'clock in the forenoon, at my office, to hear and
consider the said application and all objections
thereto; and I do hereby require all persons having
an interest in opposing the grant of such Letters
Patent to leave, on or before the twenty-third day of
September next, at my office, in Wellington, particu-
lars in writing of their objections to the said applica-
