tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-

of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
eighteenth day of June, in the year of our

Extending Boundaries of Orepuki and Longwood
Mining District.

A PROCLAMATION.

W HEREAS by a Proclamation under the hand of
the Superintendent of Southland, bearing date
the twenty-fifth day of September, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-six, certain land was declared to
be a gold field within the meaning of "The Gold
Fields Act, 1862," under the name of the Orepuki
and Longwood Gold Field:

And whereas by the sixth section of "The Mines
Act, 1877," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for
the Governor from time to time, by Proclamation, to
constitute and appoint any portion of the colony to
be a mining district under that Act, to assign
boundaries to such district, to enlarge, contract, or
otherwise alter such boundaries, and to declare by
what local name every such district shall be de-
signated: And that, until the Governor shall other-
wise order, every gold field duly proclaimed or con-
stituted at the time of the commencement of the now
recited Act shall be deemed a mining district under
the said Act: And whereas it is desirable and ex-
pedient to enlarge the boundaries of the said gold
field:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
powers and authorities vested in me by "The
Mines Act, 1877," do hereby proclaim and order
that the said mining district shall be and the same
is hereby enlarged, so that such mining district shall
include the land described in the Schedule hereto,
and that the boundaries of the said mining district
'shall henceforth be those specified in the said
Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Otago, bounded towards the North by a right line
running due east from the Waiau River to Ferdun-
law; towards the East by a line from Ferdunlaw to
the source of the eastern branch of the Purapurakino
Stream, and by that stream to the Jacob's River
Estuary, and the western boundary of Block I.,
Jacob's River Hundred, to the ocean; towards the
South and South-west by the ocean to the mouth
of the Waiau River; and towards the West by
said river to the starting point. Excepting from
description all Native reserves and sold lands.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the

Amendment of Proclamation constituting Dunedin a
Borough under "The Municipal Corporations Act,
1876," and Validation of Acts and Proceedings
of the Council of the said Borough.

NORMANBY, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
eighteenth day of June, 1878.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

W HEREAS by a Proclamation bearing date the
twentieth day of December, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-seven, and published in
the New Zealand Gazette on the said twentieth day
of December, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven, reciting as therein is recited, His
Excellency the Governor, in exercise and pur-
suance of all the powers and authorities enabling
him in that behalf, did thereby proclaim and declare,
inter alia, that, from the twenty-first day of Decem-
ber, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven,
the City of Dunedin should be a borough constituted
under "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," and
should be called "The Borough of Dunedin :"

And whereas prior to the passing of the said Act,
the proper name of Dunedin, under and by virtue of
"The Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance,
1865," was "The City of Dunedin :"

And whereas by the nineteenth section of the said
"Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," it is directed
that every Proclamation constituting a borough shall
set forth the name and boundaries thereof:

And whereas by the twelfth section of the said
Act it is provided, inter alia, that, in any case in
which by any misadventure or accident anything is
at any time done after the time required by the said
Act, or is otherwise irregularly done in matter of
form, the Governor may, by Order in Council,
gazetted and publicly notified from time to time,
make provision for any such case, or may validate
