—be all the aforesaid areas more or less, as the several parcels of land in the above Schedule are delineated in the application
maps deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor of the Provincial District of Westland, at Hokitika; and said several parcels
of land are subject to necessary roads and reserves, and exclusive of all gold workings, existing reserves, and purchased lands.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Most Honorable George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Earl of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron Mulgrave
of Mulgrave, all in the County of York, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom; and
Baron Mulgrave of New Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the Peerage of Ireland;
a Member of Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Council; Knight Grand Cross of
the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and
Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of June, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The District Courts Act, 1858,"
it is enacted that there shall be within the
Colony of New Zealand Courts of Record, possessing
civil and criminal jurisdiction, to be called District
Courts, and the Governor is empowered from time to
time, as he shall think fit, by Proclamation in the
New Zealand Gazette, to constitute throughout the
colony, or in any part thereof, districts within which
such Courts shall be respectively held, and such
districts to abolish, and the boundaries thereof to
define or alter, and also to declare by what local
name such Courts shall be designated:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the said
colony, in pursuance and exercise of the aforesaid
power and authority, do hereby constitute and pro-
claim the district of the said colony hereinafter
described or referred to, to be, from and after the
first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-eight, a district within which a District
Court shall be held under the said Act and under
"The District Courts Act Amendment Act, 1865."
And in further pursuance and exercise of the
authority aforesaid, I do hereby declare that the said
Court shall be designated by the name hereunder
specified, that is to say—
Designation of Court:
"THE DISTRICT COURT OF HAWKE'S BAY."
Description of District:
All that area of land partly in the Provincial Dis-
trict of Auckland and partly in the Provincial Dis-
trict of Hawke's Bay, bounded towards the North
by a right line from Uira Gorge to Trig. Station on
Waiwhakahihi, thence by a right line to Trig.
Station on Tawhiwhau; towards the West by a
right line running in the direction of Tatarakino
Mountain till it meets a line drawn from the junction
of the Rangitaiki River with the main road from
Napier to Taupo to the most northerly point of Wai-
karemoana; again towards the North along that line
aforesaid, thence by a right line to Puketapu;
towards the South-west by a right line to Maunga-
pohatu; towards the North-west by a right line from
hill to hill along the summit of the watershed
between Bay of Plenty and the East Coast to Mount
Hikurangi; towards the East by a right line from
Mount Hikurangi aforesaid to Cape Runaway; again
towards the North and East by the sea to the mouth
of the Waimata Stream; towards the South by the
centre of that stream to its source, thence by a
right line to Trig. Station No. 41A, thence by a
right line to Trig. Station on Whahatuaro, thence
by a right line to the junction of Tiraumea and
Manawatu Rivers, thence by the middle of the
Manawatu River to the Manawatu Gorge; towards
the West by lines from peak to peak along the
Ruahine Ranges till it meets a right line drawn from
the junction of the Makaroa River with the north
branch of the Waipawa River to Trig. Station No.
30 on Aorangi; thence towards the South by a right
line to Trig. Station No. 30 on Aorangi aforesaid,
thence by a right line to Trig. Station No. 32; again
towards the West by a right line to Trig. Station
No. 16, thence by a right line to Trig. Station No.
17, thence by a right line to Trig. Station No.
24 on Te Rete, and thence by a right line to Trig.
Station No. 28; again towards the South by a right
line to the summit of Ruapehu Mountain; again
