Change of Purpose of Reserve at Gisborne,
Auckland.

IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Go-
vernor intends, under the provisions of the 148th
section of "The Land Act, 1877," to change the
specific purpose of the land described in the second
column of the Schedule hereto for which the land was
heretofore set apart as a reserve, as specified in the
first column of the said Schedule, to the specific
purpose specified in the third column of the said
Schedule.

Sheep Inspector's Notice.

NOTICE has been received from the Inspector of
Sheep for the Wanganui District that he has
cancelled the clean certificates of the following:β€”
Mr. John Hair, of the Okehu, for a separate flock
of sheep of 700.
Messrs. Brown Brothers, flock of 300; dated 1st
May, 1878.
Mr. C. M. Richards, of Wangaehu, flock of 3,700.
Mr. E. A. Campbell, No. 1 Line, flock of 1,700;
dated 13th May, 1878.

Gold-Mining Leases to be granted.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of
"The Mines Act, 1877," and with the regulations
made under that Act for the granting of leases for
gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is
intended to grant leases of Crown lands for gold-
mining purposes to the applicants specified in the
annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objec-
tions against such leases.

Objections to the granting of such leases, stating the
grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and
lodged with the Warden at Riverton, on or before the
26th day of June, 1878.

Copies of the applications made and plans annexed
may be seen at the Warden's Office at Riverton.

SCHEDULE.

APPLICANTS: Nicholas Johnson and Co. Style under
which it is intended to conduct the business: "South-
land Reefing Company, No. 1." Four hundred by
two hundred yards, in the Longwood Mining District.
2. Applicant: William McPherson. Style under
which it is intended to conduct the business: "Alpha
Quartz-Mining Company." Four hundred by two
hundred yards, in the Longwood Mining District.
3. Applicants: Ross Robertson and George Howell.
Style under which it is intended to conduct the busi-
ness: "Sunbeam Quartz-Mining Company." Four
hundred by two hundred yards, in the Longwood
Mining District.
4. Applicants: Ross Robertson and George Howell.
Style under which it is intended to conduct the busi-
ness: "Sir Julius Vogel Quartz-Mining Company."
Four hundred by two hundred yards, in the Long-
wood Mining District.

Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this thirty-
first day of May, one thousand eight hun-
dred and seventy-eight.

Sale of Crown Lands.

IN pursuance of "The Land Act, 1877," "The
Crown Lands Sale Act, 1877," and the Marl-
borough Lands Act, 1867 and 1874, the Land Board
for the Land District of Marlborough hereby notifies
that the allotments of town, suburban, and rural
lands mentioned in the following Schedule will be
offered for sale by public auction, at the upset prices
specified in the said Schedule, at the Survey Office,
Blenheim, at noon, on Thursday, the 20th day of
June, 1878.
