Notice by the Mayor of New Plymouth under Section
145 of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876."

THE following notice, received from His Worship
the Mayor of New Plymouth, is published for
general information, in accordance with section 145
of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876."

BOROUGH OF NEW PLYMOUTH.
Result of Poll for Β£25,000 Loan.
I HEREBY notify that, at a poll held on the 6th Feb-
ruary instant, in accordance with the provisions of
"The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," to ascertain
whether a majority of one-fifth of the burgesses were
in favour of a proposal passed at a special meeting of
the Borough Council held on the 19th day of De-
cember last, to borrow a sum of Β£25,000 for the
purpose of constructing waterworks for the Town of
New Plymouth, for erecting gasworks for the manu-
facture of gas for the said town, and for forming and
metalling the streets of the borough, and that the
following properties should be pledged as security
for the said loan-viz., the Racecourse Reserve
situate in the Town of New Plymouth, 2,000 acres
reserve situate on the Patea River, and other
reserves in the Town of New Plymouth, and a
special rate on the borough property sufficient to
meet any deficiency in interest and sinking fund,
-the number of votes recorded for the said proposal
was 181; against, 50.
I do, therefore, hereby declare the resolution to be
carried.
