Filling up Vacancies in the Senate of the University
of New Zealand.
NORMANBY, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Auckland, this
nineteenth day of March, 1878.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the seventh section of "The New
Zealand University Act, 1874" (hereinafter
called "the said Act"), it is, among other things,
enacted that, until a Convocation shall be constituted,
the Governor in Council shall appoint persons to fill
up all vacancies in the Senate by resignation or
otherwise:
And whereas a Convocation has not yet been con-
stituted: And whereas by the fourteenth section of
the said Act it is, amongst other things, enacted
that any Fellow who shall fail to attend at two con-
secutive annual meetings shall cease to be a Fellow
of the University: And whereas the Hon. Robert
Campbell, M.L.C., the Hon. Sir William Fitzherbert,
K.C.M.G., M.A., the Hon. Robert Stokes, M.L.C.,
the Rev. Donald McNaughton Stuart, D.D., in con-
sequence of their having failed to attend at two
consecutive annual meetings of the Senate, have
ceased to be Fellows of the University: And
whereas it is expedient to fill up the vacancies so
caused:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the Colony, in exercise and pursuance of
the power and authority in that behalf vested in him,
doth hereby appoint the following persons to be
Fellows of the University:β

The Hon. HENRY JOHN MILLER, M.L.C.,
The Rev. DONALD MCNAUGHTON STUART, D.D.,
The Rev. THOMAS ROSEBY, LL.D.

Boundaries of Deeds Registration Districts of Otago
and Southland altered.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Auckland, this
nineteenth day of March, 1878.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand intituled "The Deeds Regis-
tration Act, 1868," it is enacted that the Governor
in Council may from time to time define and alter
the limits of any deeds registration district, and
may create new registration districts:
And whereas by Order in Council, dated the twenty-
seventh day of February, one thousand eight hun-
dred and seventy-one, the Province of Otago as
constituted by "The Otago and Southland Union
Act, 1870," was divided into two registration dis-
tricts for the purposes of the said "Deeds Registration
Act, 1868," which said districts are respectively
known as the Deeds Registration Districts of Otago
and Southland:
And whereas it is expedient to alter the existing
boundaries of the said districts in manner hereinafter
appearing:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in
pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him as aforesaid, doth hereby, with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of New
Zealand, order that for all purposes of "The Deeds
Registration Act, 1868," the island known as
Stewart's Island shall, from and after the date
hereof, cease to be within the Deeds Registration
District of Otago, and shall for all purposes of "The
Deeds Registration Act, 1868," be included in the
Deeds Registration District of Southland: And His
Excellency the Governor, by and with the advice and
consent aforesaid, doth hereby, as from the date
hereof, alter the boundaries of the said districts
accordingly.
