Masterton, is one of the railways specified in the
said Fourth Schedule, and the same is unfinished,
and it has been determined to construct and maintain
a further portion of such railway:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the
powers and authorities conferred on me by "The
Public Works Act, 1876," and in exercise of every
other power and authority enabling me in that
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
middle line of the said further portion of the said
railway shall be that defined and set forth in the
Schedule hereto, and that the two termini of the said
line shall be a point in Suburban Section number
seventy, Township of Featherston, and Rural Section
number sixty-one, Township of Masterton, Provincial
District of Wellington, and Colony of New Zealand.
The said middle line and the land through which the
same passes are set forth in the map and plan marked
P.W.D. 6217, and authenticated for the purposes of
this Proclamation by the signature of the Honorable
John Ballance, the Minister acting for the Minister
for Public Works, and which said map and plan is
deposited in the Office of the Registrar of the
Supreme Court at Wellington.

SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point in Suburban Section No. 70,
Township of Featherston, within the County of
Wairarapa West, Provincial District of Wellington,
Colony of New Zealand, the said point being the

Lands taken for the purpose of a portion of the
Road between Masterton and Opaki.

A MEMORIAL

LAID before His Excellency the Governor by the
Minister for Public Works, pursuant to the provi-
sions of "The Public Works Act, 1876," containing
an accurate description of the lands proposed to be
taken for a certain public work--to wit, the construc-
tion of a portion of a road lying between Masterton
and Opaki, in the County of Wairarapa West.

All those pieces or parcels of land in the Opaki
District, County of Wairarapa West, Provincial Dis-
trict of Wellington, running into and through the
following sections :-

Section 61: Commencing at a point on boundary
between Sections 61 and 27, one hundred and thirty-
four links westerly of south-west corner of Section
60, thence by a line north-easterly for a distance of
twenty-five links, thence by a line north-easterly for
a distance of three thousand one hundred and sixty-
three links, thence by a line north-westerly for a
distance of one hundred links, thence by a line south-
westerly for a distance of three thousand two hundred
and eleven links to boundary between Sections 61 and
27, thence by a line easterly on said boundary for a
distance of one hundred and twenty-four links to the
point of commencement; containing three acres and
thirty-one perches, more or less.
