NOTICE TO MARINERS.

THE following Notices to Mariners, received from
the Board at Port Adelaide, and Port-
master at Brisbane, are published for general infor-
mation.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA. - SPENCER GULF-EASTERN
SHOAL.

MARINERS are hereby informed that, in accordance
with a notice issued from this office on the 26th
December, 1877, a fixed white light will be shown
from a lightship, to be moored in nine (9) fathoms
at low water to the westward of the north end of the
Eastern Shoal, Spencer Gulf, in lat. 33° 3′ 15″ S., and
long. 137° 46′ 30″ E.

The light will be exhibited on the night of the 1st
April, 1878, and will be visible, in clear weather, from
a distance of about eight (8) miles.

TEMPORARY LIGHT, LOW ISLANDS, TRINITY BAY.

On and after this date, while the lighthouse on
the Low Islands is in course of construction, a tem-
porary light will be exhibited between sunset and
sunrise, from the western island, at an elevation of
40 feet above high water. In fine weather the light
will be visible from a distance of eight or nine miles.

New Zealand Railways. - Storage Rates for Lyttelton
Station, in cancellation of all previous Storage
Rates in force thereat.

IN accordance with the By-laws for the New Zea-
land Railways, fixed by Order in Council, dated
the 17th day of April, 1877, the following alterations
in the rates for storage at Lyttelton Station, in
cancellation of all previous storage rates in force
thereat, are hereby declared to be fixed, and shall
come into force from the 11th day of March, 1878:--

CLASS E.
For all goods under Class E not taken de- £ s. d.
livery of by the consignees within five
(5) working hours after arrival (to be
kept in the railway wagons or stored at
the risk of the owner, and at the option
of the General Manager), for receiving
and delivering to the ship and storage
thereon, for the first week or fraction of
a week, at per ton or fraction of a ton 0 3 0
For the second week or fraction thereof an
additional charge for storage will be
made, at per ton or fraction of a ton, of 006
After which for each additional week or
fraction of a week, for each ton or frac-
tion of a ton, the storage charge will be 002

GENERAL MERCHANDISE.
For all goods in Classes A, B, C, and D,
not taken delivery of by consignees
within five (5) working hours after ar-
rival, the storage charges will be, for
each week or fraction of a week, at per
ton (minimum charge, 1s.) 020
When delivered to ship's side an additional
charge for haulage will be made, at the
rate of, per ton (minimum charge, 6d.) 016

WOOL.
The charge for storage for wool not taken
delivery of by consignees within five (5)
working hours after arrival will be, for
each week or fraction of a week, for
each bale 010
When delivered to ship's side an additional
charge for haulage will be made, at the

Gold-Mining Lease to be granted.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of
"The Mines Act, 1877," and with the regulations
made under that Act for the granting of leases for
gold-mining purposes within the Provincial District
of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to
grant a lease for gold-mining purposes of Crown lands
to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule,
unless there shall be valid objections against such
lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating
the grounds of objection, must be made in writing,
and lodged with the Warden at Queenstown, on or
before the 27th day of March, 1878.

Copy of the application made and plans annexed
may be seen at the Warden's Office at Queenstown.
