This notice affects the following Admiralty charts:

Penang, No. 830; Bay of Bengal, No. 706; Indian
Ocean, No. 748b; and Indian Marine Survey Chart,
Martaban Gulf, No. 134; also Admiralty List of
Lights, East Indies, &c., No. 96, page 16; Marine
Survey of India Light List, No. 87; and Taylor's
Sailing Directory, Vol. i., page 498.
If this notice is received on board ship, the sub-
stance of it should be inserted on the charts affected
by it and introduced into the sailing directions to
which it relates.
Erratum.—In Notice No. 23, dated 15th October,
1878, fourth line from bottom, for Bassein River to
Pulo Penang, No. 830, read Cocanada to Bassein
River, No. 829.
Notice of Intention to Grant a Gold-Mining Lease.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of
"The Mines Act, 1877," and with the regulations
made under that Act for the granting of leases for
gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is
intended to grant a lease of Crown lands for gold-
mining purposes to the applicant specified in the
annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objec-
tions against such lease.
Objections to the granting of such lease, stating
the grounds of objection, must be made in writing,
and lodged with the Warden at Picton, on or before
the 10th day of January, 1879.
Copy of the application made and plan annexed
may be seen at the Warden's Offices, Picton or
Havelock.
SCHEDULE.
APPLICANT: JAMES THOMAS. Style under which it is
intended to conduct the business: "Thomas's Gold-
Mining Company." 16 acres, in the Ravenscliff
Gold-Mining District.

first day of January to the fifteenth day of the same

Crown Grants.
Crown Lands Office,
Wellington, 21st December, 1878.
THE under-mentioned Deeds of Grant, having been
duly executed, are now ready for delivery at this
office, under the authority of "The Crown Grants
Act, 1866."
A fee of sixpence is chargeable on each Crown
Grant for every month during which it shall remain
in this office after the expiration of three months
from the date of this notice.
In cases where it is impossible for the party en-
titled to receive the Grant to attend in person, it
will be delivered to the bearer of an authority, accord-
ing to the subjoined form, certified by a Magistrate
or by a Solicitor of the Supreme Court.
