described in the Schedule hereto are hereby taken
for the purposes of a Government road; and that,
from and after the twenty-fourth day of December
instant, the lands so described shall become abso-
lutely vested in fee-simple in Her Majesty, dis-
charged from all mortgages, charges, claims, estates,
and interests of what kind soever, for use as a
Government road.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land situate in the
Motueka Road Board District, Provincial District of
Nelson, Colony of New Zealand, containing by ad-
measurement two (2) acres and thirty (30) perches,
more or less, being portion of Section No. 129,
(Native Reserve): Commencing at a point on the
western boundary of public road, said point being
distant 1616 3 links, and on a bearing of 347°33′ mag-
netic from the southern boundary of Section No.
131; thence bounded on the South-west by other
portions of said Section No. 129, 770 links; thence
on the West by the eastern bank of the Motueka
River, 320 links or thereabouts; thence on the
North-east by other portion of said section, 690
links; thence on the East by public road, 333-3 links,
to commencing point.

Also all that piece or parcel of land situate in the
Motueka Road Board District, Provincial District of
Nelson, Colony of New Zealand, containing by ad-
measurement five (5) acres and eight (8) perches,
more or less, being portion of Section No. 20: Com-
mencing at a point on the southern boundary of said
section, said point being distant 316 links, and on a
bearing of 257° 50′ magnetic from the south-western-
most corner of said section; thence on the North-
west by other portions of said Section 745 and 424-2
links respectively; thence on the North-east by other
portions of said section, 265 links; thence on the
East by the western boundary of said section and
public road, 600 links or thereabouts, to commencing
point: the same being delineated upon the plan
marked P.W.D. 6382, hereto attached.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New
Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the
Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Coun-
cil; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael
and Saint George; Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Depen-
dencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same
;
and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at
Wellington, this nineteenth day of
December, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-
eight.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of all powers and autho-
rities enabling me in that behalf, I, George
Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
proclaim and declare that, by Order in Council made
under the provisions of "The Bank Holidays Act,
1873," of even date herewith, I have appointed
Thursday, the second day of January next, to be
observed throughout the Provincial District of Otago
as a bank holiday under and for the purposes of the
above-mentioned Act.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
