Declaring Land open for Sale within the Mining lawful for the Governor to change the specific pur-

A PROCLAMATION.
W HEREAS by the one hundred and fifty-fourth
section of "The Land Act, 1877," it is enacted
that the Governor, by Proclamation, may from time
to time declare any Crown lands within any mining
district, not held under license or lease at the date of
such Proclamation, or over which the license or lease
has been cancelled, to be open for sale or selection,
in sections of such size and form, and on such date,
as he may determine; and any lands so proclaimed
may hereafter be sold at a like price, and subject to
the like terms and conditions, or as near thereto as
may be, as Crown lands of the same class not within
a mining district: And the Governor may from time
to time alter, amend, or revoke any such Proclama-
tion:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the land
specified in the Schedule hereto shall be open for
sale, and that the twentieth day of January next
ensuing shall be the day on which the said land shall
be open for sale.

Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New
Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the
Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Coun-
cil; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
eighteenth day of December, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hun-
dred and seventy-eight.

poses for which any land has heretofore been set apart
as a reserve, or to make such change in respect of a
portion only of such reserve; but no change shall be
made in the specific purpose for which any such
reserve shall have been set apart until after a public
notice of such intended change has been inserted in
the Gazette for four consecutive weeks :

And whereas the pieces of land described in the
first column of the Schedule hereto were heretofore
set apart as reserves for the specific purposes speci-
fied in the said column: And whereas it being con-
sidered expedient that, as regards the lands reserved
as aforesaid which are described in the second column
of the Schedule hereto, the said specific purposes
should be changed to the specific purposes specified
in the third column of the said Schedule, the
Governor did, in pursuance of the provisions of the
one hundred and forty-eighth section of "The Land
Act, 1877," cause previous notices of such intended
change to be inserted in the New Zealand Gazette of
the 26th September, 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, and 31st
October, and 7th November, respectively :

And whereas neither House of the General
Assembly did within one month disapprove of the
intended change, notice of which was duly laid
before them:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise and pursuance
of the powers and authorities vested in me by "The
Land Act, 1877," change the specific purposes of the
reserves described in the second column of the said
Schedule to the specific purposes set opposite such
description in the third column of the said Schedule,
and such lands shall henceforth be deemed to be
reserved and set apart for such last-mentioned specific
purposes, and no others.

Sections 1, 2, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, of Block XXXV., Town of Carlyle, Provincial Dis- trict of Taranaki. Sites for public buildings. Notice whereof is pub- lished in New Zealand Gazette No. 7, of 18th January, 1877. All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Taranaki, containing by admeasurement one (1) acre and four (4) poles, more or less, being Sections numbered ten (10), eleven (11), twelve (12), and thirteen (13), Block thirty-five (XXXV.), Town of Carlyle, as the same is delineated on the plan de- posited in the Survey Office, New Plymouth. Site for offices for Patea County Council.
Portion of 350 (in red). Road, railway, and tele- graph purposes. Notice whereof was published in New Zealand Ga- zette No. 84, of the 11th October, 1877, folio 1011. All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canter- bury, containing by admeasure- ment 230 acres, more or less. Bounded towards the North- east by Section numbered 3936; towards the South-east by Sec- tions numbered 6022 and 6023, and also by Reserves numbered 2064 and 2275, and by a road; towards the South-west by Reserve numbered 350 (in red); and towards the North-west by the north-west boundary of Reserve No. 350 (in red). For a recreation- ground.
