Gold-Mining Lease to be granted.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of
"The Mines Act, 1877," and with the regulations
made under that Act for the granting of leases for
gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is
intended to grant a lease for gold-mining purposes
of Crown lands to the applicant specified in the
annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objec-
tions against such lease.
Objections to granting such lease, stating the
grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and
lodged with the Warden at Clyde, on or before the
12th day of February, 1878.
Copy of the application made and plans annexed
may be seen at the Warden's Office at Clyde.
SCHEDULE.
PATRICK MURPHY. Style under which it is intended
to conduct business: "Murphy and Company." Six
acres, in the Otago Gold Mining District.

cancelling order respecting the allowance of draw-
back of duties on certain articles, is published for
general information.

DRAWBACKS OF DUTIES.
THE Governor in Council has cancelled the order
specifying the articles on which a drawback of duty
paid on importation into Victoria might be allowed
on exportation, so far as relates to the goods specified
in the Schedule hereunto annexed, on and after the
4th of January instant.

TO BE EXEMPT FROM DUTY.
"Apparel, slops, and all articles made up wholly or
in part from silk, cotton, linen, or of wool, or of
mixed material," except the following articles of
apparel, whether wholly or partly made up (except
hosiery), viz.,-Aprons, breeches, coats, capes, cloaks,
costumes, collars, cuffs, sleeves and sets, crinolines,
camisoies, dresses, furs made up, frocks, fronts,
infants' hoods and hats, infants' swathes and bibs,
jackets, knickerbocker suits or portions of suits,
leggings, mantles, muslin and net scarfs, night-
dresses, pants, pelisses, petticoats, pinafores, ruffles,
robes, shirts of all kinds, skirts, stays, shawls,
trousers, tunics, vests, wristbands; men's, women's,
and children's underclothing; also the following
articles of artificial human hair manufactured, viz.,-
Head-dresses, hair-plats, hair-plat stems, side-pads,
chignons; also mats.

Cement.
Drugs.
Drugs, preparations of.
Fancy goods.
Fine gunpowder, imported in packages containing
in bulk not less than 25 lbs. weight each.
Fish, salted, dried, or preserved in brine.
Gilt mouldings and beadings for picture-frames of
wood or other material.
Hickory spokes and felloes in the rough.
Hosiery.
Iron, galvanized.
Iron wire, Nos. 1 to 9.
Ivory billiard-balls in the rough.
Machinery used in the manufacture of paper and
for felting, including wire-cloth and felts.
