Extending Jurisdiction of the Resident Magistrate's
Court, Timaru.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and autho-
rity in me vested in this behalf by " The Resident
Magistrates Act, 1867," I, George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and
declare that, from and after this first day of February
instant, the jurisdiction of the Resident Magistrate's
Court for

THE TIMARU DISTRICT,

as the same is defined in a Proclamation bearing date
the thirtieth day of November, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-seven, shall be extended to one
hundred pounds.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New
Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the
Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Council;
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the Govern-
ment House, at Wellington, this first day
of February, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight.

Land set apart on Deferred Payments in Southland.

A PROCLAMATION.

eighteenth day of February, one thousand eight hun-
dred and seventy-eight, shall be the day on which the
said land shall be open for application.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Otago, containing seven hundred and fifty (750)
acres, more or less, being portion of Run one hundred
and fifty-six в2 (156 в2) on the selection map of th
Waiau Survey District, the boundary whereof is as
follows: Commencing at the north-east corner of
Section 27, Waiau District; thence by a due south
line to the Marshburn; thence in a generally south-
easterly direction along the Marshburn to a point
where it is joined by the eastern boundary of said
run; thence northerly and thereafter north-westerly
along the boundary of said run to the eastern boun-
dary of Section 38, Waiau District; thence due
south to the north-western corner of Section 27
aforesaid; thence south-easterly along the northern
boundary of said section to the starting point.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the

of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!

WHEREAS by the fifty-third section of "The
Land Act, 1877," is enacted that the
Governor, by Proclamation in the Gazette, may from
time to time set apart out of any suburban or rural
lands such blocks or allotments of land as he shall
think fit, and set the same aside for sale on deferred
payments, and in such Proclamation may fix a day on
which the land shall be open for application; and
that he may also in like manner set apart for sale on
deferred payments such blocks or allotments as may
be recommended by any Land Board, and may also
from time to time alter, amend, or revoke any such
Proclamation:

And whereas the Land Board of Southland did, on
the third day of January, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-eight, pass a resolution recommending
that the land described in the Schedule hereto
annexed should be set apart for sale on deferred
payments:

And whereas it is expedient to give effect to the
aforesaid recommendation, and to set apart the said
land accordingly:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in me by the above-
named Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
land described in the Schedule hereto is set apart for
sale on deferred payments; and that Monday, the

Greymouth declared a Port at which Cattle imported
from the Australasian Colonies may be landed.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the eighth section of "The Dis-
eased Cattle Act Amendment Act, 1873," it
is enacted that, from and after the passing of the
said Act, no cattle imported from any foreign district
shall be landed at any port or place in the Colony of
New Zealand except at a port proclaimed to be a
port where cattle may be landed, and such cattle
shall only be landed at such place in such port as the
Local Cattle Board may from time to time appoint:

And it is further enacted that the Governor may
from time to time proclaim such ports within the
colony as he thinks fit to be ports at which cattle
may be landed; and from and after the publication
of such Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette
cattle shall be landed at such proclaimed port, and
at no other port or place:

Now know ye that I, George Augustus Constan-
tine, Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise
of the said power and authority, do hereby proclaim
the Port of Greymouth to be a port at which cattle
imported from the Australasian colonies, but not
elsewhere, may be landed, in accordance with the
provisions of the said Act: And in further pursuance
