against the provisions of any such Act or Ordinance,
before the passing of this Act: And whereas in
accordance with the provisions of the said in part
recited Acts, the Minister for Public Works has
caused a map of all such lands as have been taken or
purchased for that portion of the line of railway
from Wanganui to Manawatu, in the Provincial
District of Wellington, known as the "Junction
Section" of the "Junction and Oroua Contract," to
be prepared as by the said in part recited Act is
required; and the said map (marked P.W.D. 6676)
is authenticated by the signature of the Honorable
James Macandrew, as the Minister for Public Works:
And whereas the said Minister, on or about the thirty-
first day of October, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-eight, caused the said map to be deposited in
the office of the Registrar of Deeds at Wellington:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in me by the herein-
before in part recited Acts, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the lands set forth in the said map so
deposited as aforesaid have been taken or acquired
for the purposes of the hereinbefore mentioned
portion of the said line of railway from Wanganui
to Manawatu, which said railway is, by "The Rail-
ways Act, 1871," "The Railways Act, 1872," and
"The Railways Act, 1874," authorized to be con-
structed and maintained under the provisions of
"The Immigration and Public Works Act, 1870,"
and the several Acts amending the same: And in
further pursuance and exercise of the said power
and authority, I do hereby proclaim and declare
that the lands intended to be affected by this Pro-
clamation are described and delineated in the said
map so deposited as aforesaid.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New
Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the
Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Coun-
cil; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
second day of November, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hun-
dred and seventy-eight.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!

Warrant ordering and directing Time, Place, Man-
ner, and Form Votes are to be taken in the Railway
District, Waimate Railway.

NORMANBY, Governor.

WHEREAS by "The District Railways Act,
1877," it is, amongst other things, enacted
that the Governor may from time to time, by
warrant duly gazetted, order and direct at what
times, places, and in what manner and form the rate-
payers and owners of property shall vote within
a proposed railway district: And whereas the
Waimate Railway Company (Limited) propose to
construct within the Provincial District of Canter-
bury a railway under the said Act, and it is neces-
sary to order and direct the times and places and the
manner and form of taking the votes of the rate-
payers and owners in the railway district proposed
to be constituted by the said Company:

Now know ye that I, George Augustus Constan-
tine, Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of New
Zealand, in pursuance of the power and authority in
me vested by the said Act, do hereby order and
direct that, on the sixteenth day of December next,
the votes of the ratepayers and owners of property
within the railway district proposed by the said
Company shall be taken at the place specified in the
Schedule hereto, in the manner and form prescribed
by the regulations set forth in a warrant dated the
eleventh day of July, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-eight, and published in the New Zealand
Gazette of the eleventh day of July, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-eight.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this second day of November,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
eight.

Waimate Railway.

NORMANBY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and
authorities vested in me by the regulations made
under "The District Railways Act, 1877," by warrant
dated the eleventh day of July, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-eight, published in the Gazette
No. 68, I, George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of
Normanby, the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, do hereby appoint

GEORGE FREDERICK LOVEGROVE,
of Makikihi, Esquire, J.P., to be Revising Officer for
the railway district within which the Waimate Rail-
way Company (Limited) propose to construct a rail-
way under the said Act, and to constitute a railway
district.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this second day of November,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
eight.
