Town of Palmerston proclaimed a Borough under
"The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the fifteenth section of "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," it is
enacted that the Governor may, by Proclamation,
declare any of the several places specified in the
Third Schedule to the said Act in which a Municipal
Corporation has been established under the provi-
sions of an Ordinance of the Province of Otago
intituled "The Otago Municipal Corporations Ordi-
nance, 1865," to be a borough constituted under
the said "Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," from
a day to be named in such Proclamation; subject,
however, to certain conditions in the said section
mentioned: And whereas the Town of Palmerston,
in the Provincial District of Otago, is one of the
places specified in the said Third Schedule, and a
petition has been presented to His Excellency the
Governor by fifty of the ratepayers of such town
praying him to constitute such town into a borough
under the said "Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,"
and such petition was, on the fourth day of Sep-
tember, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
seven, publicly notified, and no petition from an equal
or greater number of such ratepayers was presented
to His Excellency within two months after such
public notification praying him not to assent to the
prayer of such first-mentioned petition :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in
exercise and pursuance of all powers and authorities
enabling him in that behalf, doth hereby proclaim
and declare that from the twelfth day of November,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven, the
said Town of Palmerston shall be a borough con-
stituted under the said "Municipal Corporations
Act, 1876," and shall be called the Borough of Pal-
merston; and that the boundaries of such borough
shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Otago con-
taining by admeasurement nine hundred (900) acres,
more or less, situate in the Moeraki Survey District.
Bounded on the North by Block X., Moeraki Survey
District; on the East by Block X., Moeraki Survey
District; on the South by Block II., Hawksbury
Survey District; and towards the West by Block X.,
Moeraki Survey District.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of
Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy
Council; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at
the Government House at Wellington,
this twelfth day of November, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-seven.

Act, 1874," in force in the Ponsonby and or Ded-
wood District.

A PROCLAMATION.

BY virtue of the powers and authorities vested in
me by the Act of the Province of Auckland
intituled "The Auckland Highways Act, 1874," and
by "The Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875," I,
George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby,
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
proclaim and declare that from and after the twelfth
day of November, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven, Part III. of the said "Highways Act,
1874," shall come into force in the Ponsonby and or
Dedwood Highway District.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
