his hand, and sealed with the public seal of the pro-
vince, delegate all or any of his powers under the
now reciting Act to the Council of the City of Nel-
son: And whereas all powers, duties, and functions
vested in the Superintendent of the said province
became by "The Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875,"
vested in the Governor:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the
powers and authorities vested in me by the herein-
before recited Acts, do hereby delegate to the Council
of the City of Nelson, within the Provincial District
of Nelson, all the powers which, immediately before
"The Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875," came into
operation, were by the said "Waterworks Act
Amendment Act, 1875," vested in the Superinten-
dent, and now are vested in the Governor.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of
Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy
Council; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; at Wel-
lington, this ninth day of October, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-seven.

Reservation of Land in the Provincial District
of Canterbury.

NORMANBY, Governor.

IN pursuance of the power and authority in me
vested in this behalf by the Canterbury Land
Regulations, and "The Waste Lands Administra-
tion Act, 1876," I hereby reserve the lands in the
Provincial District of Canterbury, the particulars
whereof are specified in the Schedule hereunto
annexed, and for the purposes in the said Schedule
mentioned.

Carterton Local Board Commissioners appointed.

NORMANBY, Governor.

WHEREAS the Returning Officer appointed to
conduct the election of Commissioners for
the Local Board of the District of Carterton, in the
County of Wairarapa West, has reported that, at a
meeting of ratepayers of the said district, held on the
thirtieth day of August, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-seven, no election of Commissioners was
made as provided by the Ordinance of the late Pro-
vince of Wellington, intituled "The Local Boards
Act, 1873": Now, therefore, I, George Augustus
Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exer-
cise of every power and authority enabling me in this
behalf, do hereby appoint

RICHARD FAIRBROTHER,
WILLIAM VICKERSTAFF,
WILLIAM PAYNE,
HUMPHREY CALLISTER, and
THOMAS BENNETT,

to be Commissioners of the Local Board for the said
district for the current year, to hold office until
another Local Board is elected in manner by law
provided.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, at Wellington, this tenth day
of October; one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-seven.
