Declaring "The Regulation of Local Elections Act,
1876," in force within the Riding of Havelock.

A PROCLAMATION.

BY virtue of the power vested in me by the third
section of "The Regulation of Local Elections
Act, 1876," I, George Augustus Constantine, Mar-
quis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that
the said Act shall come into force in respect of all
elective offices of the Havelock Board of Works
within the district known as the Riding of Havelock,
situate in the County of Marlborough.

Given under the hand of His Excellency
the Most Honorable George Augustus
Constantine, Marquis of Normanby,
Earl of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby,
and Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, in
the County of York, in the Peerage of
the United Kingdom; and Baron Mul-
grave of New Ross, in the County of
Wexford, in the Peerage of Ireland; a
Member of Her Majesty's Most Honor-
able Privy Council; Knight Grand Cross
of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George; Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over
Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand
and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of
the said Colony, at the Government House,
at Wellington, this sixth day of Septem-
ber, in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-seven.

Lands taken for the purpose of a Road in the Rakaia
Survey District, County of Selwyn.

A MEMORIAL laid before His Excellency the
Governor, by the Minister for Public Works,
pursuant to the provisions of "The Public Works
Act, 1876," containing an accurate description of the
lands proposed to be taken for a certain public
work-to wit, the construction of a road through
Section No. 23974, in the Rakaia Survey District,
County of Selwyn.

All that parcel of land containing by admeasure-
ment two (2) roods and thirty-six (36) perches, more
or less, being part of Section numbered 23974, in the
Rakaia Survey District, the boundaries whereof are
as follow:-Commencing at a point on the north-
eastern boundary of that section, the said point being
distant south-easterly six hundred and eighty-six
(686) links from the north-western corner thereof;
thence south-easterly along the said boundary three
hundred and eighty-four (384) links; thence south-
westerly by a line bearing 349° 50′ (magnetic) five
hundred and one (501) links; thence north-westerly
along the south-western boundary of the said section
one hundred (100) links; thence north-easterly by a
line bearing 169° 50′ (magnetic) twenty-three (23)
links; thence south-easterly by a line bearing 82° 17′
(magnetic) fifty (50) links; thence north-easterly
by a line bearing 169° 50′ (magnetic) ninety-seven
(97) links; thence north-westerly by a line bearing
82° 17′ (magnetic) fifty (50) links; thence north-
easterly by a line bearing 169° 50′ (magnetic) two
hundred and eighty-one (281) links; thence north-
westerly by a line parallel to the first-described
boundary two hundred and forty-seven (247) links,
and from thence returning north-westerly by a
straight line one hundred and seven (107) links to
