Inquiry for Missing Persons.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Wellington, 20th July, 1877.

INQUIRIES have been made for a person named
OTTO EDWARD THWAITES,
who sailed from London in the "Altcar," in May,
1875, for New Zealand.

He is married, but had no family when he left
England. He is about 5 feet 7 inches in height,
brown straight hair, grey eyes, small hands and
feet, and at times has a slight cast in one of his eyes,
nose rather aquiline, and is about 36 years of age.
Previously to leaving England he resided in Victoria
Park, Hackney, and was engaged in the wine trade.
He was last heard of in August, 1876, from Dunedin,
Otago.

Inquiries are also made for a person named
CHARLES O'NEILL,
who sailed in the "Ocean Mail," emigrant ship, from
London for Auckland, in August, 1875.

He is about 5 feet 11 inches in height, has reddish-
brown hair, and is of rather slight build, and is about
32 years of age. Before coming to New Zealand
he was employed in Liverpool in a cotton firm as
weight-taker, and was afterwards employed on the
Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway.

Any one possessing information respecting the
above-named persons, is requested to communicate
the same to this Office.

Application for Registration of Trade Marks.

NOTICE is hereby given that Messrs. HART and
BUCKLEY, Solicitors, of Wellington, have ap-
plied on behalf of PATERSON, MICHELL, and Co., of
Hokitika, in the County of Westland, Proprietors of
"The Westland Steam Coffee Mills, to register under
"The Trade Marks Act, 1866," the two Trade Marks
of which the following are descriptions, viz.,--

Description of No. 1 Trade Mark.
The words "Westland Steam Coffee Mills, Estab-
lished 1865," printed in the form of two semicircles
over the representation of a Globe, on which are
delineated the Australasian Colonies. Underneath
are printed the words "Celebrated Globe Brand
Coffee. Guaranteed. Hokitika." The whole being
surrounded by an arched border which is interwoven
with vine leaves.

Description of No. 2 Trade Mark.
The words "Westland Steam Coffee Mills, Estab-
lished 1865," printed in the form of two semicircles
over a representation of a Crown. Underneath are
printed the words "Finest Plantation Coffee, with
Chicory. Guaranteed. Hokitika." The whole being
surrounded by a square floral border.

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such
Trade Marks shall apply.

PURSUANT to the provisions of an Act of the
General Assembly of New Zealand, passed in
the eighteenth year of the reign of Her Majesty
Queen Victoria, and intituled "The Marriage Act,

1854," the following name of an Officiating Minister,
within the meaning of the said Act, is published for
general information: ---

Church of the Province of New Zealand, commonly
called the Church of England.

Secretary for Crown Lands to the District Land
Registrar and Registrar of Deeds here, for delivery
to the grantees.

NOTICE.—ROBERT NADEN SMITH, of 48, Temple
Court, in the City of Melbourne, in the
Colony of Victoria, an Attorney of the Supreme
Court of the said colony, has been appointed by
His Honor the Chief Justice to be a Commissioner
of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, under the
second section of "The Commissioners of the
Supreme Court Act, 1875," for the purpose of
administering and taking all such oaths, affidavits,
and affirmations as in the said section mentioned.
